Beach Getaway in February

Hi Fodorites,

I am posting this question for my parents. They live in North Carolina, they are in their 80's, and my Mom doesn't get around well. Not in a wheelchair, but just tires really easily.

They are looking for a warm beach getaway sometime in February. Could be in U.S., the Carribean, Mexico, etc. They are not too constrained by money. They would be looking for a hotel that is right on a good beach, hopefully not TOO crowded. Nearby activities or town not really important. They would be just looking to get away, relax, and sit on the beach.

Thanks for your help.

PS there is a direct flight to West Palm from CLT and the airport in West Palm is certainly one of the most user friendly I have ever visited.

hi mike, the ritz carlton on st. thomas would be lovely for them. beautiful infinity pool just above the beach. good restaurants.pool and beach service. stunning view towards st. john and bvi's.
also just checked wunderground weather history. feb. 15 average temps in palm beach are 67-76. average temp same day st. thomas 79-86. so fla could be chilly for beach sitting.
also direct flights from charlotte and raleigh/durham avail to st. thomas.

Virginia,

Is the Ritz right on the beach, or is there a walk? Is it pretty level?

BTW, they live in New Bern, so all flights end up having to go through either CLT or RDU.

I know what you mean about the temps in West Palm Beach. We visited my sister at a condo in Deerfield Beach last Feb, and it was a bit too cool for us to do anything other than walk the beach. Of course, living in Tucson, I think our blood has really thinned out. Seems like anything under 85 is cool.
