Beach for best Waves
We are trying to pick a beach to stay a couple of days at in Florida. We live in Houston. The main requirement is to be able to boogie board on the waves. Are there areas we should rule out? What about Destin?

Rule out anything south of Sebastian Inlet on the Atlantic Coast. There are many beaches north this point on the Atlantic which would be suitable, so if I were you I'd make my decision based on an area you'd like (Daytona? Fernandina Beach?) on the Atlantic.
In general the Gulf Coast beaches have much smaller waves.

Destin is totally hit or miss on the wave size. I have been there when the waves were very nice, and sometimes it is as calm as a lake. I'd give the odds at about 60-40 in favor of decent waves. If your main reason for going is the waves, Atlantic is better. For other reasons, I prefer Destin area.

If you go to the Cocoa Beach area, the best waves are currently found off the Patrick Air Force Base section of the coast.
BTW, Browns 77449, there's a big surf festival on Labor Day weekend in Cocoa Beach if you're interested. http://www.nkfsurf.com/
