Beach at Veranda longboat key
Will be staying at the Veranda in Longboat Key soon and was wondering how the beach was? We last stayed there in Sept 02 and were disappointed that the usual white sugary beach had been renourished with a coarser grey sand. How is it looking these days?
Thanks in advance

It should be completely bleached out by now. Unfortunately the gulf beachs need to be replenished every so often and they pull up that gray sand from out in the gulf.
I absolutely love Veranda Beach - it was the first purchase we made on Longboat Key and made us fall totally in love with the island. That was nine years ago and now we spend as much time as possible there!

Thank you LN. I love the Veranda too.....we have been staying there since I was a teenager (when it opened in 1982 or thereabouts).... now I have kids of my own we've started to go back. I'm really hoping that the beach will be back to it's old self this year. We stayed in Naples last year and the beaches were beautiful.
You are so lucky to be able to spend so much time at LBK...I am envious

I've been going there with my family since about 82 or 83 also - I was 7 then! So, here we are about 20 years later about to return. We haven't been back since 2002, but are really looking forward to it! I've noticed throughout the years that sometimes the sand is really nice and white, while other times it's full of shells or coarse. I was told what LN said - that it's the replenishment of the beach. Oh well, it's still beautiful!
I'm so glad to hear of other people who love Longboat Key, and the Veranda!! What a small world!

Hi
If you're talking about the Publix Market on Avenue of the Flowers then you come out of that shopping center and at the traffic light at Gulf of Mexico you would turn left and go to the 2nd or 3rd driveway on the right and that would be Veranda Beach. It's almost next door to Vizcaya and on the other side The Islander.
And JM - I'm on Longboat Key now and walked the beach this morning - the sand was as white as talcum powder.
