French Qtr modest hotel ?'s

My sister and I (50's) will be in NO in January after a cruise and plan to spend all day every day enjoying the city since we've never been there. We need a clean room, modest accomodations are fine, but location is our priority. Can anyone make some suggestions?

We like the Lafitte Guest House at the quiet end of Bourbon St in the FQ.

I love the Lafitte Guest House, but I would hardly call it "modest."

Harrahs casino often has good deals with FQ hotels. I just looked at their website under hot deals and most nights are $79 through October. You could always book somewhere else and then cancel later when January deals are posted.

If you want a hotel in the Quarter, the Dauphine Orleans is our favorite . .

Enjoy . .

I agree with the Dauphine. Have stayed there twice and really enjoyed it...

Another vote for the Dauphine. Recommended it to my mom for a "girls" weekend and they enjoyed it as well. I was lucky enough to get one of the courtyard rooms across the street, but my mom and her friends enjoyed the hotel.

Prince Conti is also a nice place for the price. Only half a block from Bourbon, but we never had any issues with noise. Jean

A fourth vote for the Dauphine. Central, but relatively quiet location.

We stayed at the St. Ann / Marie Antoinette. It was quiet, even though it was only 1/2 block off the strip. Not updated, but very nice and the price was right
