Battleship Missouri Museum

Anyone visit the battleship museum? How was it and do you think kids ages 11 & 12 would enjoy? I'm trying to narrow down sight seeing trips as I am bad about trying to do to much. My kids want to just chill out sometimes.

See my post reowfin. The Bowfin, Missouri and Pearl Harbor are all in proximity to each other. You can do the full tour in a little over a half day if you start early and get the first or second batch of Arizona Memorial tickets. The Missouri was a huge hit with our kids (11 and 13). It is so massive, the tour was very informative with tons of little tidbits that you'd never get by reading a book or walking around by yourself. We still had time to chill in the afternoon that day. Going to Oahu and not seeing these three places is like going to Chicago and not seeing the Lake or the Sears Tower, NYC and not seeing the Statue of Liberty, etc. Its the heart and soul of oahu.

Thanks! I went to the USS Missouri website (www.ussmissouri.org)and that was very informative. They offer a 1 hour guided tour and I think the deluxe tour includes lunch. Which tour did you take?

When we were there, all they did not have the tour with lunch. We took what was then the deluxe tour. It included the command and control center, captain's quarters, brig, as well as the basic stuff.....mess hall which can do double duty as the operating room, 12 inch guns, place where the treaty with Japan was signed, etc. The restoration was still in process - a lot of electronics had been pulled out after she was in the gulf war. I believe the tickets are available at the pearl harbor visitor's center - at least they were a couple of years ago.

My husband and I were just on the aircraft carrier Yorktowne in Charleston, and I'm telling you, the kids on there were having a ball! I am such a kid that I plan to have lunch on there next time! I'll bet your kids would love the Mighty Mo.......
