OK, I have done a lot of research and know where I would like to stay, but I am still pretty curious about what peoples' views of the different islands are. The trip is a honeymoon; we enjoy lush landscapes and are active: love hiking, swimming, biking, sailing, kayaking, and all of that. Will be staying at pretty luxurious places, ie Four Seasons on Big Island and possibly in Maui. What are peoples' impressions of the different islands and why do you suggest going to any particular island? Thanks in advance.

Just from reading what you like, I would definitely recommend Kauai first and foremost over BI or Maui. We did all 3 in May, and our favorite was hiking the NaPali coast and picnicing on a deserted beach. From other posts, you should probably look at the Hyatt or Princeville on Kauai for comparative acommodations. Sorry, if this is not the answer you were looking for, but your likes seem so "Kauai"

The volcano at night is very impressive and romantic, that is a must see. Waipio ridge is also a wonderful view. I would not book my accommodations before I found out it’s proximity to attractions I wanted to see. Look on the net if you have not done the reading there are pretty pictures all over the place. Kona is far from much of the most impressive landscape on the big island. It is the honeymoon so I guess it is a priority call.
I like Kauai on the north shore, you will want to be there in the dry season for the best experience. I have never had a problem with rain and I usually go in August, every year. I think it is good to book a few days the bulk of days on the north shore and save one or two days for a spot near Waimea Canyon. I am always disappointed only spending one day in that area. The forest near Kokee is very special and another not to be missed. But I am a hiker. I am totally not impressed with PoiPu (SP) at all. I would not book a lot of time in Waikiki. Oahu does offer a world of culture and night life but much of the culture can best be experienced outside of Waikiki. Maui is pretty but it does not impress me as much as Kauai and the Big Island. Where ever you go find out the season in relationship to the ocean. Some beaches are not save for swimming in all seasons. I also like to ask about rocks not all are clear and you have to wear foot gear, 4S you won't likely have this problem. CONGRATULATIONS. THANK YOU FOR NOT CHOOSING TO BE MARRIED ON THE BEACH. Last summer I saw 11 weddings in 10 days. Always a bridesmaid never a bride, I wanted to chuck a rock, just kidding. Enjoy and Good Luck

If you have time, island hop...each one has it's own distinct advantages. Maui, best swimming beaches, snorkeling, hiking Haleakala; Kauai has the lush landscape and good hiking; Oahu, nightlife, the Arizona memorial; Big Island, volcano...great things in each place!
