Bars and Clubs near NYC

I'm working and staying in North Bergen, NJ for the next few weeks and am trying to find a few good clubs/bars that are a relatively close cab ride away. Preferably clubs with young to middle aged professionals where out-of-towners won't feel out of place. Live R&B from the 70's to current is a plus.

Taxi? Are you saying you're stuck in North Bergen without a car?? I really don't know NJ, but Hoboken might be the best place to look although that will likely be young.

Agree that North Bergen without a car will be a big problem. Public transit is into and out of Manhattan - and very sparse except for rush hours. Taxis will have to be arranged in advance and will be expensive.

Don;t you need a car for the work portion? (One will giv eyou a lot more freedom at night - for going out as well as just having dinner.)

There is a public transit option. The Hudson-Bergen light rail has a station on Tonnelle Ave in North Bergen. It will take you to the Hoboken train station, which is about a block from multiple bars and clubs.

Some of these places will be geared to a much younger crowd. But, there are numerous options. I think within 5 blocks of the train station are at least a dozen bars.

You definitely will find an older crowd at The Elysian Cafe which is in Hoboken on Washington (the main drag) and 11th St.

I have a rental car, but don't feel like dealing with traffic. I definitely don't want to drink and drive. I have a buddy coming in town on Thursday. I was actually hoping to find a couple places relatively close to NJ, but on the NY side. The hotel also has a shuttle that drops us off at 41st and 7th Ave, so anywhere in that area is an option.
