Baltimore hotel - easy access to I95
Driving NC to MA Wed/Thursday - leaving NC Wed afternoon and need hotel in Baltimore with easy access to I95. Has to be Baltimore since meeting someone for dinner who is summer student at Johns Hopkins and then want to hop on highway early AM to try to beat weekend traffic on Thursday AM. Have only stayed in Inner Harbor area in past - don't need to pay for that area but want safe area. Also, Orioles are in town and will be arriving Baltimore around game time so don't want to deal with gameday traffic in Inner Harbor area.

You could try the Hampton Inn at the White Marsh Mall. There are a few hotels surrounding the White Marsh Mall. All these hotels are right off of I95. I think the exact address of the Hampton Inn is Nottingham, MD.

Just be aware that the stretch of 95 Thin refers to is under heavy construction, from that point into the outskirts of Baltimore, and can be a nightmare. DH drives it every day for work. The area around White Marsh is very nice. If you stay there be sure to ask for a room facing away from the I95 corridor.
I wonder if JHU has an office, or website, similar to JHH that can help you locate hotels if you choose not to stay in the WM area.

Gail, I'd suggest one of two options. South of the city, look for anything around BWI - most would have a Linthicum, MD address. All of them are convenient to US 295, which will get you into downtown quickly if that is where you are going to meet your friend. In the morning, you can get very quickly onto US 295, which will give you several options for heading north. I would take 295N to I-895N, then through the old Harbor Tunnel, which will eventually merge you with I-95 after the tunnel. Or, from 295N, you could get on I-695 going east, which will take you over the Key Bridge, and will take you around to I-95 north of town near White Marsh. As an alternative, you could take I-695 west to I-95N, which then goes through the Fort McHenry tunnel.
If you'd like to stay on the north side of town, thin's reco of White Marsh is a good one. Another choice would be the Sheraton Baltimore North which is in Towson, right off of I-695. It would be convenient to the Hopkins campus (assuming it's Homewood and not the hospital) via I-83 or through town, and it's also near lots of restaurants if your friend wants to come to you.

Thanks - have driven the trip between NC and Boston already twice in last 6 weeks, so aware that there are lots of shovel ready projects underway. Hopkins website does have hotel recomendations, but thought I'd ask here since much of Baltimore can be rather sketchy - and we will be 2 women travelling with a car load of stuff (mostly clothing, so hopefully no one will be interested in car contents)
