B&B in San Francisco

Does anyone have a suggestion for accomodations in SF that are under $100. I am asking for my friends mom who is on an around the world trip and this is one of her last stops. The neighborhood should be safe and near public transportation as she will not be renting a car. Any other suggestions welcome to make her stay there fun.

Thank you

I stayed at the Marina Inn several years ago, and it was nice. I think you should be able to get a room there for less than $100, but you can check their web site--marinainn.com
It's just off Lombard Street, so the bus is nearby.

Edward 11 is excellent also - great location a block or so from a bus stop in the Marina district - lots of character, but not very fancy. Great contintental breakfast and evening sherry. Friendly and clean.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Inn 1890 in Haight-Ashbury. Friendly staff, generous breakfast, close to public transportation. Website--inn1890.com

Since you seem open to the lodging and the area (as long as it is safe) you may want to try priceline for a boutique hotel. While it would not be a B&B, you will still get a bit of the feeling of a smaller hotel. Check out biddingfortravel.com.

The Golden Gate Hotel is a really cute place run by a couple, with a live in cat and dog. I paid $115 for a room with a private bathroom (shared is less) They have an antique bird cage elevator that is really unique and warm cinnamon cresaunts in the morning. It is about two blocks off of Union Square.
