B&B in Hawaii BI

We are looking for a place to stay in the Big Island of Hawaii. We'd like to be pampered so we don't want a condo were we'll have to cook, but on the other hand all the Mega Large hotels seems too hectic for us. Therefore, we figured that a B&B is a good solution in between.

We would love to get any tips on nice places. It does not have to be the top most luxury but also not a low-end place

If you want to be pampered on the BI, you want the Four Seasons. It is NOT what you think of when you say "Mega Large hotel" and definitely not hectic. Simply divine.

Well, about the four seasons, we are looking for something around 200$ a night, not 700$ a night. I hope we are not asking too much...

I know I'm still not answering your question, but...

"We'd like to be pampered so we don't want a condo were we'll have to cook"

I would guess that very few couples who go to Hawaii and stay in condos feel they "have to cook" because they are in a condo. The kitchen is great for storing drinks and fruits and other good stuff from local markets. Most eat out just as if they were staying in a hotel.

At that price point, consider a nice condo.

If your heart is set on a B&B, take a look at this -

I stayed at Hale Ohia in Volcano for one night to visit the NP. We didn't check out of our hotel in Kona - but wanted to take our time driving around the island and in Volcano. We liked it, but wouldn't use it for a base for the entire time on the BI.

check this out -- it might be just what you are looking for. We drove by it and it was lovely and the nearby town was terrific.

Hope this helps...

Or, take a look at both Cliff Houses on this page. At your price point and awesome places to stay - but not very central and not close to a beach. But, talk about gorgeous!

And, both have kitchens - so you'd "have to cook" (kidding, just kidding)

Thanks for the replies. Perhsp my perception of B&B vs condo is wrong. So to be exact, we don't wont to spend our days in the hotls but to travel around. But still we want a nice place where we can enjoy the time just in case we don't want drive around (that may sound crazy but perhaps you get my point). I thought that condos are lile staying at an apartment building but I guess I was wrong.

Anyway, I'll be glad to get any recommendations on nice places. BTW, we would like to stay in a place were there are restaurants near by.

"Waimea is home to several of the island's most celebrated restaurants. Daniel Thiebaut and Merriman's restaurants consistently receive national praise. Conde Nast Traveler magazine named Daniel Thiebaut one of the 100 best new restaurants in the world and Honolulu Magazine has over the years honored both Merriman's and Daniel Thiebaut as the island's top restaurant. The Boston Globe says Aioli's Restaurant is the "best and most reasonably priced dinner on the island." Edelweiss is a local favorite for German fare with a Hawaiian flair and the Waimea Ranch House serves the beef of the famed Parker Ranch. These restaurants, among others, are within about a mile of the Jacaranda, and even more fine restaurants are within half an hour's drive."

From the Jacaranda's website. Check out the suggestions that Starrsville and I gave you. You might just find what you are looking for.

Check out that website to see all different lodging types (as well as restaurants) in each of the BI regions. See what looks good to you.

Joshpal: you might want to look at the Outrigger Kanaloa at Kona. They're condos, but they're in your price range, adjacent to several restaurants in Keauhou, and many more restaurant options are in Kailua less than 10 minutes away.

Getting pampered on the BI these days costs in the neighborhood of $300/nt or more.
