B&B at Jersey Shore

Hi - i am looking for a hopelessly romantic bed and breakfast at the Jersey shore. Money isn't so much an issue. I'm more interested in finding the perfect place. Would like something with a large bath tub for two/or shower for two. And ideally, the room would have an ocean view. Thinking luxorious but not still cozy and small. A room we won't want to leave if you get my drift. Please, please help!!!!

Sounds like Cape May would suit. We've stayed at the Queen Victoria a few times, and it was fine, but I'm not the person to ask, B&Bs just aren't my cup-of-tea.

Fodors has some Cape May listings here:

Thanks for the quick reply. I was thinking that Cape May was a little too far south. We're coming from NYC. Anything else you can think of?

Bay Head & Spring Lake are beautiful locations, well north of Cape May. Call their C of C's, they can probably give you a listing. I can't imagine any of them being unacceptable.

Spring Lake and Bay Head have some nice B&B's but I dont think they will have all of the things you mention above. Most of them are a block in from the beach (beach front real estate is too expensive) and may not have ocean views. They may not have the large bathrooms you are seeking either, especially room service if you really don't want to leave the room. That being said my two favourites are:

Bay Head Gables Inn
200 Main Avenue
Bay Head NJ
732-892-9844
http://www.bayheadgables.com/

website for Bay Head is bayhead.org

You can take a train from NYC to Bay Head (about 2 hours) and walk about 100 yards to the hotel. If driving, it is about 1.5 hours by car from the Lincon Tunnel without traffic.

Spring Lake has one ocean front B&B:
The Breakers
1507 Ocean Avenue
Spring Lake
Phone: (732) 449-7700 ~ Fax: (732) 449-0161
breakershotel.com

The hotel is actually across the street from the ocean.

Website for Spring Lake is springlake.org

If you are looking for a great water view, but dont need a beach and price is no object, try the Ritz-Carlton Battery Park in Manhattan. It is down near Ground Zero and most rooms have great views over the harbour and the Verazzano bridge. They have a spa and fitness center. The rooms have the big bathrooms you are looking for, plus room service. They often offer great weekend rates as well.

The Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park
Two West Street
New York, New York 10004
Telephone: (212) 344-0800
Facsimile: (212) 344-3804

Hi

I so hope that you are still looking for the right B & B. I am not sure where the other repliers are from but I live 2 towns over from Spring Lake. There are SOOOO many nicer places then the Breakers.

I think you will find these 3 to be what you are looking for. You didnt say what time of year and that will matter because they do book up quickly in season. It is a good idea to come in May or June before the crowds come down every weekend. All are close to the ocean some with views of the lake or ocean.

If you are looking for nice romantic restaurants in the area you should try the Mahogany Grill in Manasquan about 2 miles away from Spring Lake. The Old Mill Inn was just recently re-done or Matisse in Belmar right on the Ocean.

I think you will have a great time......
Spring Lake is also right off Exit 98 on the Parkway so its easy to find as well
Good Luck, post again if you have any other questions
