Australian rules football - NYC

Hi All,

I'm sure many of you will find this a sad question but I thought if anyone can help me it's fellow Fodorites.

Three girl friends and I will be in NYC first two weeks of September which is when the finals start for Australian Rules football. We all barrack for the St Kilda football club and, the way things are going, they should make the finals and be playing during the time we are away. My question is does anyone know of a bar or similar in NYC that would be showing a telecast of any of the AFL games? Long shot but you never know.

I know that really we should get a life and not waste time with this but it would be an interesting experience watching a game half way around the world.

Any thought/suggestions gratefully received.

Cheers

Thanks so much both of you. Yes Aduchamp1 you are right the Australian is even showing matches being played now - some live. So it is a certainty to be showing the finals and its only a few blocks from our hotel. Think we might check out the sheep station too though. Looks nice.

One of my professors in graduate school was Australian and a devoted fan. Less Aussies and Aussie bars back then.

The NY Times today has a great listing of international places to watch the World Cup - maybe one of these places will be carrying the football matches -
