Austin/Hill Country Areas

I am looking for some places to stay at in the hill country area (no more than 4 hrs from houston) and we are driving and would love to bring our 2 boxers with us. We prefer cabins, rent homes etc. instead of hotels, especially if we bring our dogs. Ideas? anyone with a previous rental, or stay that can share? Thank you!

What part of the Hill Country? Anything in particular you want to do? I know that Fredricksburg has lots of pet friendly places. You could google fredricksburg and cabin..Or check VRBO

Fredericksburg is a great idea, but it might be beyond your limit of 4 hours from Houston. Personally I think it's worth a bit of extra driving. But if that 4 hour limit is firm, how about New Braunfels or Gruene?

We dont mind the drive, we just dont want to spend our little mini vacation in the car the whole time. I have searched online in fredricksberg, but most of the places are booked for the end of march. I know austin is very pet friendly so that is one reason we would like to go to that area. Thanks!

I just looked on VRBO.com under the Austin section and there are quite a few really nice homes for rent by the day directly on Lake Travis and Lake Austin. Would that be an option for you?

i looked at all the houses on that site, and they all only take small dogs or do not have a contained yard
