I've been trying to think of insults all afternoon to make Thinny's visit to Austin more enjoyable. I am going to ask if he is wearing last year's Armani. Or worse yet, I will accuse him of wearing costume jewelry.

The reservation is for 2pm under the name P Fodors.

Thin, you asked why all hotels booked - I just figured it out. This weekend is the ROT Rally- Republic of Texas Biker rally! Biggest biker rally in the state. Good times.

Yes, I know that now.

Saw a flyer for bikers.

I have no luck. It will probably be a zoo downtown.

Yes it will but last week it was X games (skateboarders, etc). It's something almost EVERY weekend. Actually ROT is interesting. They are a good group. Yup.

That makes me feel a tad better.

Friends were somewhere in the Carolinas during Black Biker Week and they heard gunshots all night long.

The ROT events are out at TX Expo Center, away from town. however the American Statesman property, just across the Congress Avenue Bridge has events as well. Great musical lineup, as expected, including Los Lonely Boys, Bright Lights Social Hour, Ruby Jane.

Just remember if you are driving to watch for the bikers!

We are now at Arboretum Shopping Center.

There is a Z Tejas here, next to Eddie V.

We had a nice conversation with a checked at Target.

She gave us a paper bag.

We asked why no plastic and it turns out that Austin has banned plastic bags!

This is as bad as when I lived in California and a lady ripped my Styrofoam food container out of my hands and threw it over a fence.

She screamed I was ruining the environment.

Yes there is a plastic bag ban here in Austin but no ban on styrofoam which seems a little strange. You'll be OK Thinny, people here are too nice to rip off your styrofoam food container.

But paper is trees, bring a reusable bag. I am good with paying for a plastic bag if you must. I take bags now when in Europe or buy them as souvenirs. I have Trader Joe bags from all over. The new Fl bag is so cute.
Thin, think that was Myrtle Beach and there were some shootings this year. Normally bike events are very harmless.

We aren't quite like California. Not with Rick Perry at the helm anyway. Man, what a freakin idiot. I gave to the Human Rights Campaign tonight. Haven't done that in awhile. He was my motivation..

I want to tell him to just not have sex with his wife tonight...

But I digress.

Are you down there for the Texas Bikers Rally? A friend calls it the best chance to get a donated organ all year.

We have just checked into the Hyatt Downtown on E Third Street.

We stayed with Aunt and Uncle Keith for 2 days at there home in the hills near the Arboretum Shopping Center.

We are at the Hyatt all weekend.

I am looking forward to our brunch tomorrow at Z Tejas.

No, Warren, we are not in town for the rally.

We just got back from So Co Ave.

There is a street in Philly just like it called South Street.

The Bikers are out in full force as are the POLICE.

We went past a cute restaurant set in a garden on a hill on So Co.

Maybe we will go there on Sunday.

I am exhausted.

Tomorrow I want to get up early and walk along the Town Lake.

Great idea! I used to jog town lake until I moved farther away from city.

Was the restaurant you mention on SoCo Perla's?

I've just come home from the GTG. Like all GTGs it was great fun. We had Thinny, Seamus, Austin, follow_your_bliss and Mr. fyb. Thinny is a delightful person and it was so good to finally meet him. It was also a pleasure to meet Austin for the first time and it's always great to see the fyb's and Seamus. As you can imagine we all had many good laughs together.

We are all hoping Thinny and Keith will return to TX very soon.

Delightful?

And here I was going for caustic, but will try harder next time!

Thanks for lunch, fyb!

My heart is full, but my glass is empty!
