Attending a Wedding in Sonoma County-Which Hotel To Stay In?

As a follow-on to my previous post about Sonoma and environs and attending my niece's upcoming wedding...

we finally have the details:

the wedding and recpetion are to be held at the St. Francis Winery

My niece has reserved blocks of rooms at the Flamingo resort in Santa Rosa and at the Inn at Sonoma.

Judging from the reviews of both on TripAdvisor, my inclination is to take the space at the Inn at Sonoma.

I'd appreciate any thoughts you might have on these.

The wedding will be near the end of May in 2008.

Thanks very much in advance.

I have never been wronged by the reviews on Tripadvisor. They have become my major guide for choosing a hotel, and I've never been disappointed.

Stay at the Inn. My neighbors were there last year and liked it very much.

Thanks Egret and LLindaC, both for the fast replies as well as the recommendations. I think I'll do just that.

Definitely The Inn at Sonoma. We were just there last weekend and it was lovely. Very nice room with a fireplace and small patio, a good breakfast buffet, afternoon wine and hors d'ouvres, and a very friendly and helpful staff. Plus it's just a couple blocks to the town plaza, which is surrounded by many nice shops and great restaurants.

I guess I'm the only non-fan of the Inn. When we stayed there two years ago, though, there was construction going on across the street -- so maybe that affected my impression/memory. It's definitely clean and comfortable and all that -- just nothing to write home about, imo.

I will endeavor to post a trip report upon return next year and will, as always, post on TripAdvisor as well.

Most of the construction (roads) has been completed and it should be much better by now.

oops--forgot to add--have stayed at both, and depending on the time of the wedding reception--the Flamingo is closer than the Sonoma Inn if that makes any difference. I'm speaking of beverage consumption--of course. My choice is always to stay close to the source.
