Atlantic City for non-gambler
I will be in AC from March 8-11 for the A-10 college basketball tourney. I have absolutely no interest in gambling or spending time in smoke-filled casinos. Is there anything to do in AC besides eat?

There is The Pier at Caesars (high end mall), the Quarter in Trpicans (shops and restaurants) and Borgata is worth checking out. There are always shows going on (hotel can help) and there are a couple of comedy clubs. My girlfriend doesn't gamble and always has a blast in AC!!!

Also, if it is the smoke that bothers you, the Atlantic City Casinos just put in a partial smoking ban. Casinos in AC have to make sure that 75% of the gambling area is smoke free and all other public areas have to be 100% smoke free. A total ban would be best, but this one is pretty big for a casino!

Ooops...
My brain is a little friend from being swamped at work and I did not connect the dots...
I just noticed that the ban is not enforced until April 15 and you will be there in March. My bad... at least you have good information now in case you again someday in the future! =)

Try these links (below) for ideas...
Also, the outlets are nice, Tropicana Quarter is cool, Pier at Ceasars is upscale, and the Borgata is hip. House of Blues at Showboat has good music shows, and there are always other shows playing. If you have a car, maybe head to Cape May for a day trip. When you get to AC, pick up a paper that lists events, and you will find lots to do.

At the far north end of the Boardwalk, juat a block or so away from the Showboat Casino is the Garden Pier.
This renovated pier contains an open plaza surrounded on one side by an art museum devoted to South Jersey artists. The art museum consists of 3 display rooms, has comfortable indoor seating, and clean restrooms.
The other side of the open plaza contains a municipal history exhibit that also has 3 display rooms, comfortable indoor seating, and clean restrooms.
Both buildings are open only during the daytime, from about 10 or 11am until 3 or 4pm.
They are an easy hour to enjoy! Admission to both buildings is free. Souvenirs are also for sale.
