Ashland Inn, Peerless, Ashland Inn choices

My wife, our 14 year old son and I will make a stop in Ashland on the way from the SF Bay Area to Bend in July. We're thinking to stay 1 or 2 nights and would like to get the best hotel for our stay.

These 3 hotels came up recommended quite regularly on this forum. (Search function I'd like to know which one is more sumptuous, luxurious accomodation in better location. We are not into historic hotel for historic sake. i.e. I did not like the Brown hotel in Denver, or the Drake in Chicago. Would rather get the Ritz or Pennisula, but I know they are not in Ashland, so which of these 3 hotels should we go with?

Ashland Plaza Inn and Suites
Peerless hotel
Ashland Springs hotel

any other???

I'd go for the Ashland Springs of those 3. However, don't except "sumptuous and luxurious" in Ashland, except maybe at some of the high end B&B suites like at Country Willows outside of town. The hotel is historic and well-located and the rooms are decent. But they don't have services like valet parking or even bellmen to help with luggage, and the one elevator is SLOW.

Plaza Inn & Suites feels like your cookie cutter variety Courtyard by Marriott or Hilton Garden Inn. Hardly luxurious. And "historic for historic sake" might well fit Ashland Springs. It's nice, but no matter how much they might spend on renovations, the age of the hotel is hard to overcome. If you had to choose between the two, your son would probably be more comfortable in the Plaza. Sorry, don't know anything about Peerless.

I agree that Ashland's best accommodations are more likely to be found in B & B type places. We stayed in the Plaza last time in town, but were drawn to the Ashland Creek Inn, just across the street. So, my wife and I have booked it for a couple nights later this summer. http://www.ashlandcreekinn.com/

For what it is worth - - I just recently read a horrible review of the Plaza and the only good comments came from someone who managed to get a free stay there..

Thanks to all your replies. Ashland Springs is full, as is the Ashland Creek Inn.

I've managed to book a parlor king room at the Plaza Inn with a sofabed. Oh well,...
