Art Deco Hotel In South Beach
We are looking for a hotel in the Art Deco District near the ocean. We are looking at the Park Central, the Beacon and the Ocean Five. Any comparisons, recommendations or suggestions?

Most of the hotels on Ocean Drive are not on the beach. They also are not tall hotels so the ocean view is limited. You would have to go to the SoFi area to find beachfront on Ocean Drive, I believe and I'm not sure what is there.
The art deco hotels on Collins are beachfront.
To help in your search, use Google Earth, search ocean drive, miami beach and you can zero in on the hotels and should be able to discern which would have the best views, if that is your concern. It's a small area and easily walkable. I'd take the Raleigh suggestion. HG

The descriptions of what is beachfront - Ocean Drive versus Collins Avenue - are potentially misleading. Collins Avenue is NOT beachfront until you get north of 15th or 16th Street. South of that, Collins is one or more blocks inland. Even at 16th Street, many hotels on Collins are a good distance from the ocean, although technically beachfront.
Ocean Drive is the street closest to the beach until it disappears north of 15th Street. However, most if not all hotels are on the west side of Ocean Drive.

What the heck is SoFi??? did you mean SOBE, or have I gone "out of the loop"
God help us that they are already refering to areas as Trebeca and Upper East Side!!! The New Yorkers are taking us over!!!!
Anyway, I concur with the Raleigh..one of the nicest on the beach, and especially noted for their Martinis.
In addtion:
The National
The Sagamore
They are all practically side by side, and DEFINATELY the area you want to be in.
No matter where you stay...make sure you stop for a drink at the Rose bar at the Delano.
