I’m following this as my son works in the US, but lives in Munich with his wife and son. He works for four weeks and then is off for four weeks. This has worked out well for almost two years until Covid made an appearance.

His last four weeks off he had to return to the states two weeks early. He self quarantined at our house then went to work. He is scheduled to be off May 6th and has a flight back to Germany on the 7th.

He wants to stay home the entire four weeks. Except for the plane trip he isn’t in any more of a risk than going to a home to the states. Munich has the same rules we do here in MI. His employer says he just has to follow the USA’s agencies guidelines for international travel. The CDC website states two week self quarantine after returning from Europe.

Right now his plan is to go home and then see if anything changes in a couple of weeks. I replied on this to get updates so I’d know when to check the thread.

Yes - as I mentioned the rules change every day what happened last week isn't that same as what's happening today, and 2 weeks from now things will be different again.

There is no, and has not been, a unified opinion from medical professionals since this ordeal began. The same doctors and administrators who were telling us 5 weeks ago that masks are not necessary and may do more harm than good, are now saying masks are mandatory. Hard to blame the airlines when 'official' pronouncements have flipped, flopped and flipped again . . .

In my general local area. . . . say Yolo County - a month ago they were discouraging the general public from using masks, but as of today, anyone outside their homes in the county must wear a mask or risk a ticket and or arrest . . .

The people I saw outside the grocery store without masks on were smoking. At least they were more than 20 feet from the door.

Maybe the pictures of people on an airplane without masks were taken right before or after meal or drink service. Can't take everything at face value these days as more than a few folks have an agenda about this virus.

The media has made numerous statements that masks were in short supply. So the idea was to preserve the supply for health care workers and front line workers. Previous incidences of viral outbreaks have indicated the need for proactive stockpiling of supplies. The government response (politicians) has been reactive. Administrators were caught ill prepared for a catastrophe they were warned about by medical professionals.

The masks recommended for the general public in California are basic simple cloth coverings, not medical grade. To prevent "spraying" droplets when you talk or inadvertantly cough.

Judging by the amount of freeway traffic yesterday afternoon (Saturday), ain't no one enforcing any Stay at Home guidance in California.

Use the restroom before you leave the airport!

I have not been inside a gas station or fast food restaurant but have seen open restrooms in supermarkets. I have seen a some McDonalds and general stores along the Freeways which allow walkin orders to go, not sure though if they keep their restrooms open.
