I'd love your trip. One or two things to emphasize.

In GC, be sure to hike down a bit into the canyon either on Bright Angel or South Kaibab trail

In Petrified forest NP, look for the various sites for petroglyphs (get a map/directions at the VC), have the kids learn about Native American history and see if they can find some at other places you go like GC

If you hire your own jeep with driver in Canyon de Chelley, you can decide how much time you want to spend down in the canyon Otherwise, do the overlooks on both rims and hike down to White House Ruin.

Have a fantastic trip

We travelled there (Sedona, Petrified Forest, Painted Desert, Canyon de Chelly, Monument Valley, Grand Canyon) last spring break in late March with our 15 year old son. Advise flying into Phoenix (cheaper and you have to change planes to get to Flagstaff anyway) and driving north towards Sedona, about 2 hours as I recall. You can either stay in Sedona and see Grand Canyon as a day trip or just spend a couple of nights (minimum) in Sedona and then stay in Grand Canyon overnight (better choice, in my opinion). Keep trying to get reservations at a hotel in Grand Canyon Park. People cancel reservations as it gets closer to the time, so you should be able to get in. We got our reservations just a week or two before we went, due to cancellations. Drive through Petrified Forest between Sedona and Grand Canyon, though it is a little out of the way. The drive will take longer than you think, so plan accordingly. Things are really spread out in Arizona! If you think you might be able to go to AZ again, you could choose either North of Phoenix or South of Phoenix and do the other trip another time. We are thinking of returning to AZ this spring also, since we loved it so much. You could spend several days in Sedona and several days in Grand Canyon and still not see everything there is to see and do. It did snow when we were in the Grand Canyon last March, but not too big a deal as long as you have proper clothing and footwear. Also keep in mind that Grand Canyon is at a high elevation and some people experience altitude sickness if they have not had time to acclimate--another reason to spend a bit of time once you are there.
