Are some posters for real?
I am amazed that some posters on this board have nothing to do but pass on remarks to every inquiry that appears here. For example, one poster has replied to over 80 inquiries since October 1 and seems to have travelled all over the world. I wonder what kind of a job he has that allow him to spend some much time on the computer every day.

Perhaps someone who has traveled all over the world starting in his younger days and has saved money for his passion of travel through the years. Maybe he is a business owner, works out of his home, or is retired.
I have been just about around the world myself. Some people might find it non-believable that I could have possibly traveled to so many places.
How did you find the time to count 80 posts of this person? "I wonder what kind of a job he has...". It takes less time to post than it does to do what you did!

Posting is a hobby for many of us even if/when we are not planning trips. Four replies per day is hardly an excessive example. Many habitual Fodorites travel regularly, read guidebooks and travel magazines for fun, post on other travel websites... in other words have a wealth of world-wide destinations they are knowledgeable about.

And to Hoftra's defense, one does not have to count individual post - just click on the Author's name and it gives a numbered list of all posts. Which is how I know Hofstra has participated in 43 posts (only semi-retired?).

Hofstra, I'm glad they pulled you out of the cement so you could pose this question. Maybe they are frustrated fiction writers or maybe they are on the dole and have loads of time to research answers. HTTY

80? Only 80? I'm retired. Most days I don't have anything to do, I could have easily posted 80 since Oct.1
But, I seldom travel and so unless someone asks about my home town or something very general, I can't post.
But trust me on this. I am very real. I think I could have posted four or more a day even when I was working.

My number is 58 since October 1st (well, 59 now). But doesn't that just mean that I've posted on 59 threads? A person might have posted several times on each one so everyone's count is probably higher than they think.
Perhaps I need a hobby.

Actually,
I have over 90, but perhaps you should check out www.tripadvisor.com MX/San Miguel de Allende forum for the local advice.

80 replies since Oct 1,
or
80 threads that he's posted to since the beginning of registration that have some activity since Oct 1?
There IS a difference, and if Hofstra has actually determined the former then I don't know if the subject of his/her curiosity should be flattered or feel stalked.

I was about to post the same comment as rb. If I replied to a post (or started it) last year, but someone eles has replied to it this month, it will show up on my list with an October date, but it doesn't mean I actually participated in that thread in October.
But I also agree with the others - what's the big deal with 4 posts per day anyway? It only takes a few minutes a couple times a day to scan the subject lines since the last time you were on and see if any interest you. A few more minutes to type out 4 replies - much less than most people spend watching TV per day, for example.
