I know there are Home Exchange websites out there, but I am only looking to trade my SC studio apt. for one in Manhattan in June. Is there a New York one specifically? I know it's not Paris or Provence,but someone interested in history would like it here! Suggestions?- maybe a classified in the Times?

How about trying New York magazine - a lot less clutter than the Times.

Try Craigslist - find NY real estate - "short stays" - use a good heading (i.e. say you want swap, or "June vacation swap - Charleston/NYC" or whatever).

And post a new one every other day. It is free. I successfully sublet an apartment this way.

And please let us know if it works!!

Also - maybe NY mag, but I think New York Review of Books is better. Best however is probably a Home Exchange site.

Don't give up on Philly and it's surrounds. The kids are a great age to learn about our country's history and with all the new buildings in the National Historic Park...it's better than ever. You will find plenty to do and even if it's hot, most of these activities are indoors.

Another suggestion for accomodations in Lancaster County....Rayba Acres Farm...really nice rooms, inexpensive and the kids can see all the calves and watch the cows being milked in the barn. There are always lots of kittens to play with and the dairy farmer is very friendly and will answer lots of questions.

If you decide to skip Hersey (and that's not a tradegy), you may enjoy Longwood Gardens on your way into the
city.
