Anyone used Hotwire.com for BOSTON hotels?

I just got quotes from Hotwire.com for Boston hotels. They quoted Upperscale hotels in late August, one in Back Bay(Copley) for $60/night and one in Downtown(Beacon) for $55/night. Has anyone used Hotwire.com for Boston and when they say upperscale does that really mean upperscale? These prices seem too good to be true in Boston. Thanks for your help.

Jay, if you find out, email me!!We don't have a guest room and hotelare too costly. Even our bred and breakfasts here are expensive. Much more than was quoted to you! So we can't invite friends from france to stay.

I used Hotwire for Boston twice now. I put in for the upperscale hotel, and have stayed at the Swissottel downtown and Doubletree Guest Suites in Harvard. Extremely happy with the Swissottel. It was an upscale hotel, two blocks from the subway, although the area was right across the street from Boston Commons and a couple of blocks away from Chinatown, it was not the best neighborhood in Boston. It was not dangerous, however, just a little run down in the neighborhood. The value of that hotel for the price charged was superb!

Good luck.

Thanks to the 2 of you who replied. I went ahead and tried HotWire.com and took a $55 Upscale hotel in Downtown Boston which ended up being the Doubletree in downtown on Washington St. If anyone has any info. on this hotel it would be appreciated!

I haven't used hotwire.com for Boston but last fall (when hotwire was offering only airfare - not hotels) I used priceline.com for a Boston weekend visit. Not only was I unable to find anything in downtown Boston for my price range (was trying to stay under $100 per night)... the best I could get was the Marriot at Kendall Square for $100 per night plus the priceline $5 service charge (and I got that blind -mad not idea what hotel I'de be in before I committed). $55 for the Doubletree is a great deal.
