Anyone stayed at Turtle Bay Resort,Oahu

My husband and 18 year old daughter are going to be staying at Turtle Bay Resort in April. Any reviews or suggestions for activities or eating?

You are going to be way out on the North Shore. Some people really like it up there. Personally, we did not. It was too far away, a little rundown and we felt out of the loop. If you are going all the way to Hawaii, I would opt for Maui or Kuaui and spend as little time on Oahu as possible. Sorry, if this is not what you wanted to hear.

Oahu is GORGEOUS so don't skip it at all. However, I would stay at the Ihilani Resort and Spa rather than the Hilton. Of course, if you like your hotels on the "very plain" side, then it really won't matter to you at all!

This hotel is old , but it sits on a beautiful spot. I have not seen the rooms. I thought the North shore was great. It's not commercial at all and it has the best beaches!

I agree fully with e. I stayed there a couple of years ago...beautiful location, but remote and run down...At the time the property was in need to a total make-over (don't know if it ever happened)...I was not at all impressed with the beach at the hotel although there were some spectacular beaches nearby...If you like the city scene, opt for Honolulu...if not, Maui or Kauai are your best bets...

I haven't been to Turtle Bay since Sept 1992 (honeymoon and hurricane!) but it is in a great location if you want to be way from all of the fanfare. If not, try the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki.

We stayed at the Turtle Bay Hilton in Nov.,98 and loved it! It's so beautiful on the North Shore. We went
horseback riding on the beach and got to drive to some quiant little towns on the north shore. We Loved it
there and We've been to Hawaii 5 times. It's so different from Waikiki
Beach which we stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village the first 4 times.
That was great too!

I stayed at the Turtle Bay Hilton last year. If you really want to get away, this place is great. It's on the North Shore of Oahu, and about 15 minutes away from the main town, Haleiwa. Don't expect luxury, but you will find clean and functional rooms with killer views. I had an oceanview room and in the morning, I would get up and watch the color of the ocean change from black to stormy grey-blue to a beautiful deep blue. You could also look into getting a condo at the Turtle Bay which may be a slightly better value.

Stayed there in 1991 for a couple of nights, nothing special but the north shore of oahu is beautiful. There was a resturant not to far from there called the Crouching Lion which we loved.

Please call the resort directly and ask about their current renovation project at the hotel. You may not want to hear workmen during your visit, especially since you picked a rather quiet spot for your vacation. This info kept me from reserving there for May 2001. Your daughter might want more action anyway, depends upon her. My son is 18 so...

We walked into the Turtle Bay in 1996 and called other hotels immediately. It was old, outdated 70's looking with bad, bad, bad, rooms. Luckily Hilton was very gracious about our displeasure and set us up at the Hilton Hawaiian Village at no extra cost. We were very pleased with the way the hotel manager handled it especially since we refused to stay at their hotel. Change your reservation while you can!!! We wanted to get away from the commercialism of Oahu's popular beaches but the Turtle Bay is near nothing. Don't go.

I'm afraid you'll be very sorry about staying here. I would change my plans if I were you. The Hotel is really in sad shape, and of course very isolated.
