Anyone heard of RCI?
We were just in Cancun and heard the sales pitch for RCI (Resort Condiminiums International). It sounded too good to be true. Does anyone have any experience with them? They are associated with Royal and Gold Clubs as well. They are a club vs. time share. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have been a member in RCI since 1983. We have had some great exchanges, townhouse condos in ski villages, in USA and Europe. Two bedroom units in Florida and a two studio units that were just adequate.
If you can be flexible with the dates you want to travel, you will get a good exchange. If you need to stick to summer and school breaks it is almost imposible to get what you want.
Hope this helps.

My parents have had a timeshare with RCI for years. They have really enjoyed the flexibilty (of the time bank) and the quality of all the condos. They were actually impressed. I think that they had a time share for Steam Boat Springs in Colorado but ended up trading it in the time bank thing and going to Hawaii just about evey year. They loved it because they couldn't have gone to Hawaii over 10 times without it. The main draw back is the yearly "maintenance fee" that they charge beyond the initial purchase price. Also, a time share is very difficult to get rid of if you decide you won't be using it. Personally, a time share is not for me just because of the long term commitment thing.
