Anybody know of a bank debit card with frequent flyer miles?
Is there a way to get miles for using a debit card? I'm ready to move my account and if I could find a bank card like this I'd be happy. Because then I could get miles for my housing expenses (co-op will do automatic pay but not regular cc). Thanx.

Elizabeth, I think what Gretchen is trying to say is the reason CC companies offer the come on of free miles is to entice you to run up your card and incur interest charges. There is no benefit to the bank for you to use your own money. I think some of the mileage cards have restrictions on what charges earn miles so make sure to read the fine print.

Alaska, Continental, UAL, and American (at least), through partner banks, offer Visa/MC-branded debit cards that earn miles.
Most (except CO I believe) provide 1 mi. per $2 spent in debit transactions; CO and one of the AA cards (Citibank? Chase?) offer 1 mi/$1 but carry a higher annual fee. You don't earn miles on ATM withdrawals, but you do on groceries (even with cash back, which is probably against the rules), gas stations, restaurants... I won't say how many, but let's just say we've had some flights recently on various carriers that were largely earned through ordinary debit transactions.

Shows what snotty Gretchen knows..... I have a Bank of America debit card which earns me miles on USAirways for all debit card purchases. It's 1 mile for every $2 spent...unless you purchase a USAirways service or product, and then you get mile/dollar. I've racked up tons of free flights without even thinking about it.

Go to flyertalk.com and use the search function. Patience required. Probably easier to go to your FFP airline site and look to see what banks they issue their normal credit cards through, then go to that bank's site.

I have discovered exactly where to get this information.
Go to the website of the airline you want to earn miles on. Click on their frequent flyer program, and then choose the link for their "partners". It will show you what credit AND debit cards you can use to earn FF miles (and the bank that sponsors them).
For example: AA is partnered with Citibank; America West with Bank of America.
