Anybody felt the quake in Cali?
SAN MARTIN, Calif. -- A magnitude 4.7 earthquake struck the south San Francisco Bay area early today, but there were no reports of injuries or damage, authorities said.
The quake struck at 5:24 a.m. PDT about 6 miles east of San Martin, a town of 4,200 people in a rural part of southern Santa Clara County, and was followed by three smaller quakes, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
The quake could be felt in San Francisco, about 70 miles north of the epicenter.
No one was hurt and there were no reports of damage, according to the Santa Clara County sheriff's department and police in Gilroy, about 8 miles from where the quake struck

My cat jumping off the bed makes things shake more than that little seismic burp.
Having said that, we're WAY overdue for a sizable jolt down here in southern CA. Glad to hear nothing came of this morning's quake.

Underhill, I hear you. Although I did not feel this quake up here in San Francisco, I agree with your assessment of "earthquake weather", as controversial as that subject might be. For me, I get suspicious when the wind just suddenly, totally stops, it's warm, and there's a certain feeling that something is waiting to exhale..... I felt something similar the morning of the '89 Loma Prieta.

I am in San Jose and I didn't feel anything. Only a 4.7 though.
I was outside in downtown Santa Cruz when the Loma Prieta quake hit. Right before it started, I looked around and wondered why it was so darned quiet. Things felt really weird the entire day.

Please don't tell me San Francisco is overdue for a big one! We'll be making our first trip out there end of July and I don't want to hear about any earthquakes that week! Come on, what the chances of it happening the ONE time I'm there?

We just had the 100th year anniversary of the 1906 earthquake and all the time all we heard on the news and the tv was the next "big one"...it is pretty scarey, to be honest.
but you just have to prepare yourself and hope for the best....it is sort of like the bus or lightening analogy.
they say we are due for the next big one within the next 30 years.

I heard San Jose was where it came from, wondered how far a small one can be felt.
rjw, lol about the cat.
I remember a small quake when I lived in LA that occurred while I was lying by a pool. I thought it was a strong gust of wind until I saw the water all at one end of the pool.
I hope this is all that happens, none of California needs anything bigger!

Being a native Californian, I have never heard of our state being called Cali, except on this board..
The title should of read;
Anybody felt the quake in Frisco in Cali?
I live in San Diego and we have our share of earthquakes and a 4.7 is a decent one but San Francisco has the San Andreas Fault line run right through it which is one of the most active fault lines in the world..
