Any good hiking in Clermont Florida?

Hello there! I was wondering if anyone knew of good hiking trails that go up a hill in Clermont? I live in Windermere, but Clermont is close. My husband and I are trying to think of something different to do for our anniversary. Orlando is so flat in the landscape, but Clermont has some hills. So, I was thinking to hike up a hill and perhaps have a picnic at the top.

Any ideas?

Lakeridge Winery has some special events and they are on a hill. They have a picnic area too. Another suggestion is Weikwa Springs State Park in Longwood. Not too far and acres & acres of wooded land, some picnice areas, the springs, etc...

bnbtraveler - yes, I have been to lakeridge winery and it is very nice. However, I am looking for some exercise and we want to hike up a hill in Clermont and perhaps have a picnic at the top. Do you have any suggestions for that?

Jill, I was thinking about Lake Louisa State Park, but I don't remember hiking on any real hills there, more like gently rolling "hills." In any case, happy anniversary!

Hey 321go!! Thanks for responding. I looked up Louisa State Park and it looks like it has some nice trails. I am not sure if it has a trail uphill though. There has to be one in Clermont, right?

Have you looked at Van Fleet Trail State Park? They claim to have "higher hills than any other trail system in Florida".

Cranachin - thank you for that recommendation as well. However, I still don't think it has that uphill hike I was looking for.

Jill--

Are you expecting too much? The highest point in Florida is only 345 feet above sea level, and that is in NW Florida. There might be some hills around Clermont that are above 300 feet, but if you want high hills, you'll have to go to Georgia or Alabama!

Cranachin - I just want those small hills in Clermont. I can't seem to find a hike that goes from the base of the "hill" and upwards.
