Anchorage Itinerary February Help
Hello,
Visiting Anchorage in Feb 19 for 10 days between 4th and 14th.
Does anyone have any example activities or itinerary for during this time? Can hire a car if needed.
I know most places and tours dont run in Feb cos of the weather so interested to see what others would recommend doing to experience Alaska.
Cheers,
David

Welcome to Fodor's!
Are those dates absolutely fixed? If you could move them to the end of the month, you'd be there for Fur Rendezvous, a very fun midwinter festival featuring dog sled races, a carnival, lots of sporting events, parties, dances... Anchorage Fur Rendezvous Winter Festival
If not, and assuming you're okay with driving in winter conditions, you can see some nice country in day trips from Anchorage, particularly down the Seward Highway as far as Girdwood and Portage. Google Alyeska resort and Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. There are also opportunities for skiing and snowshoeing if that floats your boat. In town, you can walk or hike in various areas; you may see moose on the coastal trail. North of town, the Native village of Eklutna is interesting with its old Russian Orthodox church and colorful "spirit houses" in the adjacent cemetery.
It's also a great time for fightseeing if the weather's decent. Flying in a light plane toward Denali in the winter will change your life.
