Marilyn,

Television without pity? I'm not familiar with it.

Also, I was kind of upset they flew from DC to Charleston and didn't have to stop at South of the Border.

Television Without Pity (www.televisionwithoutpity.com) is one of my favorite sites - it has hilarious recaps of each episode of TAR (and many other shows) and forums with very witty comments about the show. I highly recommend it!

Oh, I am ROFLMAO at the comments TVw/o
Pity made about Survivor
"Your teamates have been replaced with Folgers crystals"

and their name for Survivor
"Pick a little, talk a little"

Thanks Marilyn, I gotta go back and read about TAR.

Yeah, they're great for Survivor, TAR, and if you've been watching Rome, those recaps are also hysterical.

("...isn't this show really just out to educate us a little? Between the lesbian love scenes, I mean?")

Also, if you ever miss an episode, you can get a blow-by-blow recap.

How very, very, very, very interesting!! I just went to the TWoP recaps for TAR and there at the top of the page is a banner ad for . . . FODORS! Do you think our die-hard fandom on this thread had anything to do with that?!?

I am another TWOP regular. I just love Miss Ali who does the TAR and Survivor recaps. I really was laughing out loud reading the recap of Survivor today. One of the contestants said "mantosterone" on the show and Miss Ali made some comments about "girlstrogen." So funny.

The only trouble with TWoP is that there's so much to read it can take hours! Much longer than Fodors!

I'm still out with the jury on this one. So far it's ok, but not as good as previous TAR's.

Maybe, it has to do with the editing. On the CBS site they have unseen video clips. In one of them that little blonde girl loses the "TAR pouch" in which each team carries around their clues & money. She loses it at the airport! An edited version of that clip would have been more interesting than those most of the SUV driving scenes.

However, there was also a clip of those obnoxious sisters tearing into each other when they were lost in their SUV looking for the shrimp place!

Enjoy-la!

I love AR but I'm not enjoying this family one at all. The road blocks are so lame.
Dayle: I also thought there were several suspicious things in the last AR including the plane moment you mentioned, until a friend of mine told me it happened to her. She was late for her flight and begged to get on. They called the pilot and he agreed to reopen the door for her. And believe me, she's not famous.
Anyway, I think I will stop watching this one and wait anxiously for the next one: couples traveling around the world with tough/scary road blocks/tasks to go through.

Catbert, I agree. There are too many people doing too many things at too many different times. And this season they Doubled the amount of people!

BTW, How did that team find Dole's Airport?

I was disappointed to see the Aiellos go. I watched them on the CBS Morning Show yesterday. The father-in-law said that even though he spends time with his SILs on holidays etc., he wanted to do this so he could really get to know the men his daughters loved. Wow! I thought that remark was terrific. Lets hope the Paolos go next week.

I am addicted to Amazing Race, look forward to watching it every week.
However, am not excited about this season's family race. The challenges were far more difficult (especially the food ones)in past season's shows and I too watch to see the world.
I was totally shocked at the lack of knowledge of the United States some of the families had, even as a Canadian I knew some of the states.
I can honestly say I wouldn't be upset if I missed an episode where in the past I would have to have an episode taped if I couldn't watch.

I think I should stay away Television without pity. Might be addictive.

Even though I was yelling at the tv "it's Dulles airport" I realize I know nothing about Space Camp. The sister (of the 3 farting brothers-one sister team) did recognize it so good for her. Amazing anyone could recognize anything after a 'mystery' 8-hr long bus ride.

I would much rather watch baseball in October, so I missed it.

But never, ever underestimate the knowledge of geography in USA citizens. It is absolutely not to be believed. The most intelligent linguists and brilliant scientists still do not know where the mountain ranges are, nor do they know much about the entire middle section of the country, upon testing.

I was going to watch it, but after 3 minutes I couldn't stand it and switched to Rome on HBO.

ncgrrl -- I was hoping they'd next pan for gold at Ruby Falls --- you know, See Rock City and Beautiful Ruby Falls....

are they every going to leave the states? This is an incredibly bad experiment. They all need to be dropped in Romania or Bolivia or somewhere that would really be a challenge.

The host commented that they haven;t left the US so far, in a way that implied that they will.

I agree with klam_chowder - there is some better material on the CBS website, then was actually broadcast.

Oh, why didn't they come to Durham. They could have had batting practice with Bulls. And make it a true challenge, make them find the old stadium where "Bull Durham" was filmed and not the current stadium. Run the bases with Wool E. Bull. And let ME say "Welcome to Durham, you're team number 1"

Or even a bigger challenge in Durham, drive through the road construction mess of I-85.

Maybe they should have chosen only families which are disfunctional and always arguing. It would have been a lot more interesting. Some hair pulling, guilt trips, bitching, and belittling. They could have found all of the family teams on The People's Court. It would be a real hit.

Mrs Weaver quotes:

"Find the Southern Colonial in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.”

"Lake Pontchartrain. Its one of the 5 Great Lakes"

But I did admire the way she handled her family at the race track.
