Rest assured that whatever they're made of if it's looks like a needle,they will either take it or ask you to check it in your luggage.
We just returned from a Spirit Air flight and was told we would not be able to carry on cologne in glass bottles. When I asked why,I was informed it was FAA policy.
I'm getting the impression that the rules differ greatly between airports and airlines.
