Albuquerque in November ?'s..

Evening greetings~ I found out today that my dh will be in New Mexico later this fall on another work related project.. of course, I do my own research, but it's nice to get some insider advice from residents on recommended attractions and the like.
Lodging not an issue this trip.. I would appreciate advice on a few restaurants though.
I'll have my two kids with me(17 and 12) and we're planning the trip for Thanksgiving week.
Thank you for any good leads, J.

I went a few years ago for Thanksgiving. It was beautiful. Be sure to take a trip to Santa Fe. AND, when you are in Santa Fe, be sure to visit the Georgia O'Keefe museum.

I just shopped for silver jewelry but can't be of too much help.

Yes, I enjoy museums too. This was a surprise and thank goodness for air miles..
I am really excited to have a new place to explore for a change.. it's been on my wish list, along with Colorado, Texas and N.E, the South, ..

I just like to explore. Now I'd just like to lose about fifteen tons and life will be perfect! J.

I'd love to meet you and your family if your schedule allows it!

What will your food budget be, and what do you like to eat?

Shopping - hmmmm, I don't shop, I hunt. ;-) We have most of the major chains and all that...

ElendilPickle and DebitNM~ I'd be happy to meet you both for lunch or whatever..
my kids will hang out with their dad for a couple afternoons and I will have free time(rare for me, since I usually have to lead the pack when we travel)!
I dropped my husband off this morning for his Calif. job, and told him that I was again adding to my internet group..(read your posts before we left).. :-?now that I've done this and come back in one piece, he's fine with it..hmm, maybe I should think about a "how to meet your cyber friends safely" article!
Sort of like old dating days.. meet for coffee first in a neutral place, but if things don't work out at thr gtg, it could be reported online:

* Beware,XYXZ soaks her scones in rum.

* Agent99 talks incessantly of bad seat assignments, and seems disdainful of 2 star hotels.

* SausageLover isn't as fit as he claimed and there is no Mrs. SausageLover, only stains..

I will get back to you later.. it seems some vehicle tabs on a co. car expired in May, my bad..(keeping my figers crossed that lrgnbittr isn't on duty at the dmv this morning..>)

J.

J - you crack me up! I'm bummed you'll be in NM when I'm not.

Debi & Lee Ann - I think I'll be there in December and would love to meet you both too. Only for coffee though - gotta follow Jetset's cyber rules...

ladies~ a spa pedicure and only light daytime fragrances are permitted..

*If "one of us" needs dessert, we ALL order for appearance sake(if you are a diabetic, you may take it to go after the farthest away visitor has reapplied her lipstick.)

I've just about had it with the single dads in my town who have to wear their lady killer colognes to pick their kids up after school..
Does that not scream I'm available 24/7 and will go to any length?
Enough to tempt me to add my medical Shnapps to my Earl Grey.. J.

OK J.
you have probably managed to have the only 2 non shoppers in ABQ answer your thread!!

As Lee Ann said, we have all the major chain stores for both women's casual wear and we have REI for athletic wear along with Big 5 and a couple of other athletic wear stores.

For some independent shops, you will want to shop in Old Town and also on Central Avenue in a section of town called Nob Hill. There are some wonderful shops there.

Museums -- a number of them to pick from - Indian Culture Center; Natural History & Science; Explora [your 12 year old will love this one]; National Atomic Museum [your 17 year old will love this one]; Lodestar Planetarium [both kids will like this one] and The ABQ Museum.

The Zoo is excellent as is the Biological Park; and The Rio Grande Botanic Garden. There a rattlesnake museum if that interest your kids {I've never been}.

Do you know where you will be staying?

OK, this is just for starters....

DebitNM~.. you are a true pal, since I like outdoor gear for layering and casual strolls and hikes.. we have REI in Anchorage but I don't always have time to go there with the gang..

*Corporate housing since my dh will be working on a long project, hence no need for hotel advice..

I'm not really "a shopper" like in days past, but I enjoy anything unusual/regional, and yes, I love boots, short to knee length and all styles, so maybe I'd be hunting a pair or two..
I finally conquered my fear of natural curls and can wash and wear and go..(my round squirrel cheeks are more unnoticeable that way)..

Just shared your museum list with my younger son(so unladylike to bellow, but with dh gone, what the hey, they are boys) and he is looking forward to them, way cool..
he missed out on trying rattlesnake appetizer in Arizona on our last visit, so this will be close, lol.

Take care and thanks again.. I'm off to cook a birthday meal and stuff as much cake and ice cream into admitted round cheeks as I can~ woohoo! J.
(I may invent a water retention/chocolate o.d./ smiley....(chunky, chubby, pudgy, bloatee-oh!) in the short term)..
