Alaska Cruise from Whittier

Hi, We are taking our first cruise on Carnival. They say the ship leaves at 9pm from Whittier.
We rented a car , what time do we have to be there to catch the ship??

I would check with the cruise line, there will be a time all passengers must be on board. Personally I would want to be there mid afternoon to get the lay of the ship down and to have a nice dinner. You may also have a deadline to turn in your car

I am never in a rush to get on a ship in Alaska, there is plenty of wonderful activities to take advantage of instead. I get on southbound cruises usually around 6:30-7:00pm, so I have a full day of touring. It takes no time to figure out a ship.
As a reminder, Avis is the only car rental company in Whittier, take advantage of having it. Be very aware of the tunnel schedule. There also is a $12 toll. You will return your car to the Harbor Store, simple to find.

Miss Queen, what do you mean there is a $12 toll. Is this something new? Took a ferry last year from Whittier and to Whittier and did not have to pay any tolls. Thank you

We are staying in Seward the night before our cruise leaves from Whittier. Does anyone know of a way to get from Seward to Whittier without a rental car? Thanks.

To go through the tunnel from Anchorage TO Whittier, there is a $12 toll that has been in place as long as I have been driving through.
