Aladdin,Luxor,MGM?for moms50th!

Planning Moms 50th...Before the barrage of Bellagio,Venetian or other high$$ resorts come rapid fire towards me...keep in mind 1)I'm aiming for 100$a night or less(Aug. 4-8)Sun-Thu. 2)location would be nice 3)they are 46 and 50(would prefer adult oriented resorts)...know that Vegas is not totally chid-free(not my goal to avoid! just a preference for them)....also I have been to Vegas and stayed at the Luxor found that it was above average and got the job done!!!But leaning towards Aladdin because of Resort Room(560 sq.feet)89$vs Luxor tower room(450)75$and MGM grand tower(460)80$.Aladdin also has computer in room, all marble bath 2 vanities, tub +sep. shower and seperate toilet room,.. full mall(desert passage, they spent 1.2 billion for a hotel that was aimed to compete with Bellagio and Venetian but heard it doesn't,but now instead targets the "above average" hotels..is fairly new (August 2000)..seems to be centrally located....any honest comments would be appreciated!!!!Thanks

We just returned from a stay at Mandalay Bay (next to Luxor). It was fabulous!! Midweek rate was 109. We had ages 5-80 with us and everyone was happy. Rated #1 place to stay on travel channel. Good luck with your plans and have fun!

Ditto Marilyn . If you can fit it into the budget, MB is a great place to stay!

I did enjoy it..a lot!!selected Vegas for them because 1)my aunt conceived the idea first(so we're spliitin the tab for my "Mom"...2)they've been quite a few places like Bermuda,Key West,Acapulco,New York,Chicago,so they've enjoyed the nice beach scene and urban...are by know means world travelers...just have never been to Vegas and they've always mentioned it ....thought it would be good....yeah I liked Vegas...it is an american icon!!!one of a kind from chessy to classy!!!

Of those three, I would go for the Luxor. MGM is too large and Aladdin is too cheesy (at least the casino, I haven't seen the rooms).

Maybe you want to go to www.cheapovegas.com

They have excellent, tongue-in-cheek reviews of most Vegas hotels.

For your budget, I would also consider the Montecarlo.

Of the three, I would pick Aladdin -- they have the nicest rooms, best shopping and the bathrooms are definitely above average (great soaking tub/jacuzzi). The location is also excellent.

Luxor is getting a little long in the tooth, and MGM is a mecca for children. Aladdin is having a Sun-Th special for under $100 through much of August.

Before anyone jumps on me, I have also stayed at Bellagio, Venetian, Paris, Mandalay Bay, Mirage, etc. and am simply answering the poster's original question. Hope your mom has a blast!

Agree Aladdin is the best in the pack (location, newer, etc.). I would still check some of the others mentioned....Bellagio, Mandalay Bay, etc. Vegas room rates fluctuate so dramatically based upon availability (conventions, etc.) you may be able snag a room at one of those resorts for less than $100.

Aladdin will do just fine.

Check the Venetian's website however, they were emailing an August special last week with rooms (weekdays) starting at $99 per night

Hi Vence

Yes we stayed at the Aladdin last year and absolutely LOVED it!!! We had a resort room overlooking the fountains at Bellagio. The resort rooms are pretty big. Especially the bathrooms. They are beautiful. We want to stay there again. When you check in, request an upgrade for a resort room facing the fountains at the Bellagio. We also have stayed at the Luxor. Nice hotel too. But I like the location of the Aladdin. It's center of the strip. Luxor is more near the end. You'd be further from the activities.
Good Luck!! My #1 vote- Aladdin!!!

I have stayed at the Aladdin and it was fine. We stayed there two years ago for $69 a night. We were given a free upgrade at check-in - I didn't even have to ask. The room was huge, beautiful bathroom, view of Bellagio. All in all a great deal. The location of Aladdin is the best of the three you mentioned. By the way, I have also stayed at Mandalay Bay - which is beautiful, Paris (this would also be a great choice for you) and you should be able to get a room for under $100 (mention that your mother is turning 50 - I received a considerable discount for being 50).

Have fun!

The discount code for the $99 rooms at the Venetian is GO-61702

Aug 4 - 8 is listed as available.

Ask about the full details since sometimes these rates are non-cancellable/non-changeable.

For $99, go to Venetian, you'll never get it cheaper. They are non-refundable reservations, tho. The rooms are suites, it has a mall, and is in a league above the others you're looking at.

I agree with the other posters - if you can get The Venetian for $99, by all means take it!! You will love it.
