Well this may not count, depending on your definition of "celebrity" but Johnnie Cochran (OJ's lawyer) on a flight from IAH to LA. I was on business, and my collegue told me that he checked me out when I went to the bathroom. I am so lucky...???

Also saw Ice Cube or Ice-T or something. Only knew he was famous b/c of the 13 year old girl next to me.

DH saw Bill Macy and his wife on another LA flight. Said they were super nice. He also saw Dan Akroyd! He sees everyone though.

Depends on your definition of a celebrity I guess. I constantly see Ric Flair (of wrestling fame) as well as Ewa Mataya (pool player) & her husband. Of course these folks live in Charlotte. Also seen Hulk Hogan, Shel Silverstein & Jim Belushi.

Richard Petty. I live in North Carolina and here he is a CELEBRITY.

Lewis Grizzard looking very confused and almost as if he could not care for himself. His assistant followed him everywhere saying "Here, Lewis. Over here, Lewis."

Most recent incident was when I was waiting for a flight in CLT. A very well muscled and heavily tatooed man was standing in the same waiting area. He had on a black tee shirt, black jeans and a baseball cap (also black) with flames printed on the edges. Frankly he was a little scary. An elderly woman sitting in a wheelchair seemed to address him and he bent to her so kindly and graciously it was touching to watch. He turned as he rose and smiled at me. Finally I realized it was Aaron Neville, no entourage, and a genuinely sweet smile. Won my heart!

FainaAgain,

I have heard that Mr Kahuna is awfully snobby and very unapproachable. Maybe it is best not to try for autographs. I bet his posse keeps fans at bay, eh?

Just remembered one that I've tried to forget: while I was waiting at baggage claim in Atlanta, Newt Gringrich was checking me out (in an obvious way) while talking on the phone. I gave him a nasty look. I'm still in therapy.

Seems like Marvin Hamlisch gets around - was on my flight LAX-NY many years ago. Only person I ever got an autograph of - our flight was delayed on the runway and he was very gracious.

Another siting of Richard Simmons - on my plane NY-LAX (he in First, me in cattle car). Complete with shorts, etc.

Christopher Reeve twice at the baggage carousel at LAX before his accident (and then again at a restaurant in Connecticut).

Paul Newman at JFK many years ago. Yes - those blue eyes are gorgeous!

Heather Locklear and then-husband Tommy Lee at LAX.

Eric Clapton on a flight to London-NY many years ago. Very quiet and private.

Salman Rushdie (sp?) - on my flight from London last year.

In the 60's: Saw Robert Culp several times always walking quickly in LAX, and always carrying a tennis racquet.
1996: Had a conversation with the girl who played Chuck Norris' girlfriend on "Walker, Texas Ranger" in an airport shop in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
She was extremely nice and so very beautiful.

Probably over 35 years ago when I was a poverty-stricken Vista volunteer girl and my luggage was a huge duffel bag....I was next to George Hamilton at LaGuardia waiting for luggage. He was even more stiff and important then than he is now...all suited up and serious.... I grabbed my bag and hoisted it up on my shoulder and swung around and hit him! He didn't smile at that. I was so flustered that I hurriedly turned away - and hit him coming around the other way!

I saw Michelle Kwan in Salt Lake City back in 2002 at the airport. I waved at her and said "hi michelle, how was the olympics?" she gave me a dirty look and swung her head the other way and walked off. I didnt expect for her to be so snobbish.

About 12 years ago, as I waited for my wife's plane to come into Washington National, TV journalist Chris Matthews greeted either his parents or his wife's parents. Washington National was practically deserted at 8 PM on a Friday night.

Robert Wagner and O.J. Simpson (when he was just famous, not infamous) on a flight from Aspen to LAX.
Ray Charles in New Orleans
Kirstie Allie at CDG Paris

Most recently, Maria Bartiromo, the financial reporter from NBC was sitting behind me in the 1st class cabin from NYC to LAX.

I have never approached any celebrity for an autograph. I would love to get Mr. Kahuna's, though .

sonorandreams, of course Michelle Kwan wasn't too happy with that question. Everyone expected her to win gold at those games and instead she took the bronze. Maybe you didn't mean any harm, but I can see why she was offended.

When I was a young sailor sitting in the bar waiting for a Pan Am flight to Hawaii, George Gobel sat down next to me. Bought me a beer. Nice guy.

Oh, Sonoran, I am surprised you didn't expect her to be snobish. Haven't you listened to her interviews?

GirlOnTheGo, it's not that Kal refused his autograph. It's that I haven't asked
