Someone on this site recommended travelteam.com for good Hawaii prices. I just did an airfare search for Monday in March, FLL to OGG (maui) and got $630. Go to the website, click on airfare, then click on "consolidators" and you can give it a try. Good Luck!
P.S. Anyone else have any comments on consolidators? We went through AAA on a trip from Tampa to Cancun, and they used consolidators, airfare went from $650 (web sites) to $495. No problems, great times, major airline...

I will not give up just yet, especially since I've spent the entire month of January obsessing about our tentative April trip to Hawaii! Sherry, yes I agree that Phillip is a tad annoying. Airlines love to play these roller coaster pricing games, then cry to the government to bail them out when everything doesn't go their way. If Phil's supply and demand lecture were true of the airlines, why do flight fares go up then down then up then down etc???

This morning one of the travel sites sent me an auto e-mail update for fare sales led by US Air and matched by AA and Delta. I gleefully clicked to the links expecting to lock in my trip for a few bucks less...shocker...the fares have gone UP on all carriers! Some by only $5 (Expedia & US Air), but on AA from the price went from $140 to $250!! (Bos to NYC) When you visit the airline sites, they all have these big banners with new winter and spring savings...what's going on with the fares?!

We joined best fares last week, and got a price from Birmingham, Alabama to Honolulu for 548.00 Tax, tag and title brought it up to 615.00. we were happy to pay that even though we have only paid that much one other time. Someone on one of the other posts suggested we do that and we are glad we did.

Within the last two days, Delta announced a $734 million loss and United a $308 million loss. These are losses after the government handouts post 9/11. It's probably not a coincidence that prices increased drastically at the same time. These companies are in it for the money, not to subsidize our leisure activities. It is unfortunate for those of us who love to travel, but for now I guess we have to grin and bear it, and hope for better times soon.

x, it does seem like there are better deals going to Europe. Got a ticket for San Francisco to Paris for $400 last week. This week it's back up to $750 but I continually get emails from travelocity, british air and orbitz about other deals to Europe.

After reading all the previous posts, I think my husband and I must have gotten the deal of the century to Hawaii! I was on-line January 1 when I got an e-mail from Travelocity that my Honolululu Fare Watcher airfare had changed. Roundtrip Albany NY to Honolulu was $367.20 on Delta!! I checked Delta's site and got the same fare. Since we'd been following the airfare prices off and on for the past several months, I knew that was a real bargain, or a misprint, so we booked! We are now going for two weeks in March, flying into Honolulu for a couple of nights before flying to Kauai and then Kona. The inter-island airfares are costing us an additional $162.00 per person. Our air tickets are bought and paid for, our hotels and car rentals are booked. And I would also highly recommend the "Ultimate...." series for whichever island you are visiting... We look forward to leaving in four weeks!
