Affordable Travel late December from Boston
I work at a college in Boston and every year we have ten days off between Christmas and New Years. I would love to go away during that time, somewhere warm would be nice, but not required, just a nice get away for somewhere between 4-7 days. I think about this every year, but all the flights are so pricey I can never find anything. I am looking for something after Christmas day for under $300 airfare, any ideas?

Perhaps you are going about this all wrong. Do you really need to fly someplace? Why not consider going to a place within a day's driving distance? A nice hotel with amenities and nearby points of interest like museums, shows, etc. and access to some fine dining is always a treat and a good way to "get away from it all" for a few days.
Perhaps if you could give us some idea of your interests it would make it easier to give meaning full suggestions. All we really know about you is you have a limited airfare budget and you want to "get away" between Christmas and New Years and you don't necessarily want to go someplace warm. Is a ski vacation out of the question? Florida, perhaps (not sure if you can get there on $300)? Maybe Charleston, SC, Hilton Head, SC, Savanna, GA????
As an aside, flying between Christmas and New Years is always costly so I'm afraid $300 for R/T airfare is not going to get you very far.
Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck finding a place.

The suggestion about Southwest and Jet Blue's sites is a good one. Also, sign up for price alerts at a site like airfarewatchdog: if you keep on top of it, you don't know what you might find that sparks your interest!
Since you say that "somewhere warm would be nice" but you're also trying to keep costs down, instead of classic resort areas try looking at cities like New Orleans or Phoenix. (Dallas, on the other hand, has the potential to get cold air straight down from Canada, so despite its southern latitude might not be the best idea!) New Orleans in particular isn't exactly balmy -- but certainly an improvement over Boston!! (Think long sleeved shirt and windbreaker rather than being encased in down...) IMO, fares are cheaper into hub cities like these, but you never know: pick a place on the map and see what feedback you get here!

If you want to go someplace warm in the US in late December, you're going to have to fly. Some of these places have already been mentioned, but your best bets for warm or warm-ish weather that time of year will probably be in New Orleans, various spots on Florida, Phoenix or Tucson in AZ, Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Southern California.
If you're coming out from Boston and want to travel more cheaply (say via bus or train), consider New York (but accommodations will cost you plenty), or Philadelphia, or Washington DC for your whole stay.
Or consider a few days at one or more of Portland ME, Providence RI, Newport RI, the Pioneer Valley area in MA (Northampton, Amherst), or Williamstown MA. Some attractions are likely to be open at any of these, and off season hotel rates may apply. Check, though, on any attraction connected to a university (such as the Smith College Art Museum) to see what their schedules are -- some may be closed over holiday break.
