Advice on Fort Lauderdale/Miami

We are seniors flying Jet Blue to Fort Lauderdale. Ultimate destination is a tour of South America leaving from Miami. We plan to arrive a day early on the front end of the trip, but can't decide whether to remain in Miami at the end of the trip. Our flight from South America will arrive at 6AM and we must then get back to Fort Lauderdale to fly home to Los Angeles. Are there any hotels that would take guests in at 6AM? Thanks for your opinions and help.

Yu can likely leave your bags at your hotel upon arrival, but the only way I know of to actually get into a room at 6 AM is to pay for the night before. You could use Pricline or some other discount method and save some money.

I think I understand your schedule, but after your 6 AM arrival in Miami, by when do you need to be back in Ft. Lauderdale and is it the same day or the next. I am not sure I would want to fly all night, and then transfer to FLL and then fly home to wherever. I would need a vacation after 2 days of travel like that.

Thanks for responding. We arrive in Miami fron S. America at 6 AM and then we can either proceed to Fort Lauderdale to fly home to LA or stay on in either Miami or Fort Lauderdale to recover from the S. American flight. The problem is where do we go if we elect to stay over one night in Florida. Where would we rest at 6AM?

How are you getting from MIA to FLL? What time is flight to LA likely to be?

I don't think I would want to drive from MIA to FLL (only about 40 miles) after an all-night flight, but it is certainly possible. The problem with where do you rest at 6 AM is that unless you get a hotel room or sleep on a beach (only kidding), you don't really have many options. And if you get a hotel room the night before, then they will kick you out by about noon - unless you can arrange for a later check-out time. That might work for a quick nap and then off to FLL - depends on time of flight home.

Or you get stuck renting a room for 2 nights - the night before you arrive (so you can have it at 6 AM) and the next night. I might check various websites to see if there are any deals at airport hotels in either FLL or MIA.

Depends on how you deal with jet lag, can you sleep on a plane, would you rather just get home after a trip or rest for a while.

There are hotels that will rent day rooms - that is. you check in at a specified time early am and check out usually laye afternoon. Check with Sheraton, Marriott and larger chains in the area

Just booked the Miami Hilton, apparently at the airport. Thanks for your help.
