Interesting how this thread turned a little seedy too.

We have been to Vegas with our 4yold daughter and had a great time and we are neither gamblers, sex seekers or runaways..perhaps we are a little weird then. We enjoyed looking at the free shows and activities around and marvelling at the casinos in all their often tacky splendour. We even got into the spirit and renewed our vows with "Elvis" which was a real hoot.

We shall be returning again June 2011 but this time for 7 nights perhaps with a day or two road trip which was suggested to us by another person on this site..maybe Hoover Dam..not sure. Accommodation is so cheap and luxurious for the price and yes a tad ostentatious but that is Vegas. I am no mean an expert here but don't want KLDunnies to get scared off...It's a fun over the top place and we are looking forward to our returning there

Thanks kdemunk and all for your replies. It proves that Vegas has a little something for everyone. We'll keep you posted!

kdemunk, you are sooo right about vegas. I tell everyone that asks about vegas that they should visit it at least once to experience it. The lights alone are worth the visit. I have been there so many times I can't recall which years I went once or which years I went twice. KLDunnies, there is something for everyone, wear you best walking shoes, tennies are perfectly fine and should it be windy while you are there, it will be cold.

We like Beatles Love, the hamburger place in Mandalay Bay (good beer selection), dancing late into the night, chatting with hookers on the strip, sleeping in, golfing, hitting the buffet at the Mirage or Paris. People watching while playing video poker from a casino bar is always fun. Stay away from chain restaurants in major casinos - like California Pizza Kitchen (overpriced and bland, the buffets are a better value and some are very good).

ziggypop, you reminded me of the first time DH and I went to Vegas. We were with his parents and saw a topless show. With his mother pointing out girls and saying "Isn't she cute?", DH was turning many shades of red!

KLDunnies,I have a souvineer for you that is the best....
one of the last trips we made to vegas I splurged and went to ceasars palace and bought each of us bath robes from the gift shop. Soft, thick, lushious, so cool and they are monogramed from ceasars palace. Every night after showering we are reminded of our trip and of course our enduring love for each other. They were about $100.00 each but I know they will outlast me. I actually told my wife to bury me in mine! I went to many casinos looking for bath robes and once you see these you will be hooked. TDudette,lol...I also would not like going to a topless show with my mother-in-law, or my daughters.

The toilet in the ladies room at Mix Lounge at Mandalay Bay is a must. Overlooking the MB grounds and the strip made me giggle and linger a little longer than necessary.

Our must-do activity is to rent a car from the airport, stop at Whole Foods for groceries, bypass Las Vegas and head north to Valley of Fire and Zion National Park. Or head south to Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon and Sedona.
