advice about vacation spots.

I have friends from Israel who are planning an extensive trip thru the U.S. Part of their itinerary was 3 days in New Orleans which of course is no longer possible. They are flying to Yellowstone then were supposed to go to New Orleans. From there to Philadelphia, New York and Washington. I would appreciate recommendations for where they could spend the 3 days, maybe in upstate New York, Any suggestions?

Two obvious questions:
When are they coming?
What are they most interested in seeing?
There are so very many places to recommend from cities (San Francisco, Chicago, etc.) to natural wonders (Grand Canyon, Yosemite, etc.) to who knows what else, that I'd hestitate to make further suggestions without getting more input.

They are coming around the end of September. I am looking for recommendations for somewhere near New York or Philadelphia. Is the Berkshires a good idea?

Please don't flame me for this, but I think that after Yellowstone, the Berkshires will be sort of lame.

If I was making recommendations, I'd steer people out west: Grand Canyon, southern Utah national parks, Yosemite, San Francisco. Much, much more dramatic scenery than the Berkshires.

Or, if you are wanting east coast, I'd recommend Boston or Cape Cod/Martha's Vineyard.

How long are they spending in Yellowstone? It can take a good 5 days to really see all of the park. Are they going to the Grand Tetons too? If they are only spending 3 days in the Yellowstone area, I'd say spend the extra three in the area too.

Either extend stay in Yellowstone area or add a Florida city if they want some warm weather or add to Northeast seaboard itinerary and add Boston.

I think Charlestown, SC would be a great replacement for their NO segment.
