Adult Vacation-need Ideas
3 couples want to get away for 3-5 days while the kids are at camp around 3rd week of July '09. We need ideas. Will fly or drive. don't want Vegas, or a cruise. the guys want somewhere cooler(north), the girls wanted a beach or lake front. can be home rental or resort, not a "romantic getaway"
thanks for the help!!

I have not personally been to Sea Ranch in Northern Calif... north of Bodega bay...I think you can Google it for more information. There are houses and condo's..some on the beach....its quite popular for people in N. Calif. to go for a get away.

The Vineyard is a good idea if you have the full 5 days. In season, 3 days is just too short a time, as things are so crowded.
There are also many possibilities on Cape Cod or in Maine. It would help to know your starting point, as you may not want to use up a big chunk of your time traveling to your vacation destination. Are you closer to the East Coast, West, etc?

thanks for all the great suggestions. I had thought about Colorado, but thats where the kids will be in camp at winter park, and freaked at the idea of the parents being in the same state! we can still go there, and just not tell them! Ive always wanted to go river rafting, and never have.
One couple in our group, are both school teachers, so that cuts down on the budget some, and lets face it, were from west texas, we're not real fancy out here!!
Tahoe sounds good, and the carolinas, I thought about looking for a VRBO on a lake somewhere.
I appreciate the help, and enjoy "travel talk"!

1) North Shore of Minn
see www.northshorevisitor.com
It's one of our favorite places to escape the Texas summer heat. Beautiful scenery, very reasonable, some great restaurants and inns, plenty of lakes including of course Lake Superior. Great weather.
2) Coast of Maine
