Adirondack Family Camp style Lodging Wanted...

I know that this is VERY late notice, but hoping for maybe a cancellation at a lodge/family type resort on the water in the Adirondack Mts. Last couple days of July, early August...anyone have any ideas they could share with me?? Thanks a lot!! Never been to this area, we are from Michigan.

Hi wliwl...no luck, still checking a few other spots. Morningside Camps are booked, like you thought too! Bummer...we waited too long for there I guess. Thank you. Anyone else??

Sorry to hear that -- the Adirondacks is such a great place - and part of its charm is certainly its undeveloped character - but the park could really use some economic development money so that the mom and pop places can make some capital improvements and spur tourism. As it is, there are just so few decent places to stay.

Instead, all that's happened is a boom in 2nd home building, and that rarely aids those local economies much at all.

Hi there wliwl..Our economy here in Michigan is absolutely horrible, to say the least. Poor families foreclosing on their homes, no jobs, $4.15/gallon gas.....seems like it is getting worse too. I appreciate all of your help though. A lot of the Mom & Pop type hotels in the touristy areas have some availability, just not exactly what I am really looking for when I think Adirondacks with the family. The first leg of our trip we will be at the Golden Arrow Lodge on Mirror Lake in Lk. Placid, now we are just trying to figure out the last three nights!! Thank you SO much for trying....

Long Lake and Saranac Lake both have plenty of nice waterfront accomodations that should have rooms available. Green Harbor on Long Lake is a nice spot.

Thank you sharondi...I checked out the Green Harbor website and it looked pretty decent. Looks like they may even do three days, which is what we need, and which is what the problem has been, most do weekly. Do you think this is sort of like a lodge/camp feel for a family of 5 with three little kids?? Thank you so much!! Have you heard of a place called Bonnie View?? on Lk. George I think it is?? Thanks!! Carrie.
