Judyrem, I hiked Angels Landing last year in Zion and was looking foward to the Beehive but ran out of time.

Tekwriter, another hike we didn't make but wanted to is Sargent Mountain Loop, 5.5 RT. Somewhere I read it's one of the "20 Best Hikes in the National Parks". Enjoy a great trip!

Wow, thanks for the details and suggestions! I am almost ashamed to say we're only going to be able to spend one day in the park (next Tuesday), since we only have time for two nights in Maine on this trip. We will make the most of it, though. I'm watching the foliage maps every day, keeping my fingers crossed we'll hit peak or near-peak color at some locations. It will all be fabulous, I know! Thanks!

Its been a few years, but my brothers and I have been up to Bar Harbor 3 times. We had a great time each trip. We have friends in Salem, MA that we picked up the last time on our drive north from the Philly area. They thoroughly enjoyed it too.

Acadia is a beautiful park, and we love the whole Mt. Deseert Island area. Probably will be going back up there in the next couple of years.

As far as lodging, we've always stayed at the Quality Inn right at the top of Rt. 3. Its always been a good deal for the money, and only a few minutes walk into downtown Bar Harbor.

Just writing this is making me hungry for the fresh seafood we always enjoy while up there.

Tekwriter, you do what you can, right? There have been times I wish we coulda-shoulda devoted more time to certain places but... I'll upload some pics later and post a link.

yk, when dh finally breaks away from work he likes to make the most of his time off. When I travel by myself or with friends it is at a slower pace!
