Acadia National Park
I'm looking for recommendations for a place to stay in /around Bar Harbor, ME/ Acadia National Park. Looking for someplace on the water or with water view, with outdoor space to sit and look at the water (balcony, patio, lawn), not too rustic -- luxury would be nice but not essential, a kitchen would be a plus but also not essential.
Any suggestions? Two seniors, looking for relaxing week with some whale watching thrown in.
Thanks for any recommendations.

Hi sussexred,
Of three trips which we've enjoyed to the Bar Harbor/Acadia area, we liked the Bluenose Inn on Eden St. the best of our lodgings.
If you click on our screen name, you can check out our report entitled: "3-Pronged Fall Trip: Maine, Quebec City, and NH". In it we describe the hotel and other details of the area.
Whatever you decide, have an enjoyable trip!

We agree that the Bar Harbor Inn has a great location. However, we do enjoy a water view and found that this hotel did not have openings the three times we visited. It was a busy season, though. But we did enjoy their terrace restaurant.

There are a few motels with kitchenettes but none that I know of right on the water. Apparently the Bar Harbor Grand, downtown, has some kitchenette units.
But lodgings with kitchens would generally be cabins/cottages...you'd have to read reviews carefully to see which ones might be too "rustic" for you. If you're looking for something for this year, it's going to be slim pickings at this point.
