A Scenic View -Dinner in San Diego

We will be in San Diego for the last weekend in August. We are staying in the Old Town area. We'd love to have a great dinner one evening at sunset---possibly with an ocean view. We'll have a car so we're willing to drive 30-45 minutes away! Many thanks!

A couple of other choices would be Island Prime on Harbor Island and Top of the Market next to the Midway Aircraft Carrier / Fish Market (below the Top of the Market) on the patio.

The Hotel Del is a great spot. One of my favorites is Candela's on the Bay at the ferry landing. It has wonderful food and a to-die-for view of the San Diego Bay and the city skyline.

Bertrand's at Mr A's would be great too with its fabulous panoramic view. If you felt like driving then George's Terrace in La Jolla would be lovely. I'd second the Top of the Market.

Some other options:

Marine Room in La Jolla
Jakes or Ilforniao in Del Mar, also Poseidon is more casual.

Actually I think the best sunset place is the wine bar outside Il Forniao.

Georges rooftop is also great, but you would have to get there early to get a good seat.

Just hope for a sunny day with no cloud cover.

We loved George's at the Cove, in La Jolla.

The outside terrace at the Restaurant at the new Hilton Hotel (just west of Petco Park) has a great view of the harbor and decent food. It is one of the few downtown nice resto with a close-up harbotr (The Big Bay) view.
