Austin, some of us have to toe the line and wear what is appropriate!!
Thank you michelle, mwah!
And now for something NEW to consider..Sunday afternoon in a hot and crowded Soho NYC, there was a man standing on the curb. He had one jeans (tight) a nice shirt, and sandals..with WHITE polish on his toenails

No socks of any sort with sandals of any sort, PLEASE! Just because the Europeans do it, and the hippies in Santa Cruz do it, doesn't make it right. And while we're at it, if you are going to expose your feet to the world, PLEASE make your feet presentable. Feet are ugly enough as it is, without having to catch sight of long yellow toenails - YUCK!

If it were up to me, sandals for men would be outlawed entirely. I can think of soooo many other things I would rather look at other than a man's TOES!!! Most of the time, they're so ugly! I mean, unclipped toenails, toenail fungus, YIKES!! Sneaks for me, thanks.

We have our own style in NE, thank you very much. And turtlenecks with shorts are ideal for walking on the beach in the evening when its too cool for short sleeves but not so cold either. You can walk in the water without getting your pants wet and still stay comfy.
I would never wear stripes with dots. I generally stick to polka dots with my animal prints - come on - doesn't everyone?! ;-)

puddin: Please, please let me keep my sandals! I live near the beach-- sometimes it's nice to be able to easily get out of my footwear and feel the sand between my toes, then easily get the things back on. I know I should wear my sneakers out in the evening (for clubbing, I wear tasteful Doc Martens-- I know, so five years ago, but they're so comfy!!)-- but I love my sandals.... OK?

Ok - I just have to ask ... why why why would anyone WANT to wear socks with their Tevas. I don't like and won't wear most sandals but I LOVE my Tevas and I live in them all summer. Fashion aside, I just can't imagine why I would ever want to wear them with socks ???

OKAY!!! IF, and only IF, you keep your toes well groomed (no narly hanging-over-the-top nails, no toe jam etc) you may keep your sandals. You might have to send me a picture, though, to pass inspection. BTW, I like Doc Martins. Last year I bought a pair of Sketchers (sp?) which are kinda similar and I could walk a bazillion miles in those things. Soooo comfy.

Yes, soccer sandals with socks. Low socks. Its a sports thing. The kids do it. Throw off the cleats or golf shoes, throw on the adidas. Here in the south men often wear tan tassel loafers without socks.
