My monkey won't wear sandals, with or without socks. Now what do I do?

Soccer sandals are those black, velcro-closing sandals with one wide strap and nubby soles.

I too am at a loss RE: "soccer sandal". That's a new one for me. I know "slides"-- Banana Republic and Kenneth Cole seemingly couldn't keep those things on the shelves for a while this spring (I thought they were a bit ridiculous-- too dressy to be casual, too casual to be dressy, but I kept seeing these yutzes showing up with them at nice restaurants, so...). But soccer sandals...?

puddin, I've never had a pedicure in my life, but if it will help the cause of World Foot Peace, I'll do it.

BTW, did you know there are cosmetic surgeons here in southern CA that specialize in turning people's ugly hooves into pretty, dainty li'l footsies?! We're joking here-- but someone has decided that unattractive feet is a serious, medically-correctable problem! So take note, everyone.

You've never had a pedicure? Ooooohh, maybe you should indulge. Not only do they soak and wash the feet and file the nails, you also usually get a FOOT MASSAGE to boot! Yow! I can attest to the fact that there are nerve endings in your feet you didn't know existed until they are groped and....well, let's not get carried away. Anyway, I wouldn't bother with a plastic surgeon if all it took was some grooming, but I've seen some people's feet where surgery might be the only answer....just kidding....(smile)

"Mandals"? That is one of the funniest things I've ever heard!

How about socks with flip flops?

Dickies?

More raving about pedicures. I get one every couple weeks and they are heaven.

*groan* I'm sorry, "Queer Eye..." and "Fashion Emergency" be damned, guys just DON'T get pedicures!! I'm a pretty sensitive, New Age kind of guy, but I just can't get THAT in touch with my softer side...!

But, it IS for the cause of World Foot Peace, and I don't want puddin hunting me down ("STEP AWAY FROM THE HUARACHES!!"). But no nail polish-- that's my absolute limit.

Just to chime in on the Teva issue - its popular after athletic activities (golf, hiking, cycling, tennis, even skiing) to slip out of whatever shoes/boots you were wearing and throw on Tevas or Chacos or 'soccer" sandals w/o removing socks. Also, at altitude its in the 40s early morning and after the sun goes down but gets to the 90s during the day so you'll see socks for a couple hours with sandals. Outdoor companies (REI, EMS) sell sandal socks for Tevas/Chacos - though I've only seen them around a campfire and not as casual wear around town.

The white tube socks or black dress socks with dress sandals/huaraches may get you featured as a glamour don't however...

If you are a man and got nail polish with your pedicure I WOULD have to hunt you down...and take you out back and start throwing haymakers!!! No, no nail polish!!! BTW, what the hell are the "HUARACHES"....I'm missing something, I think...

Huraches are woven leather sandals, think Don Johnson in Miami Vice.

Socks with sandals, only when camping. It's eaiser to slip them on during the middle of the night tript to the bathroom.

My husband won't let me buy him a pair of sandals. He wears tennis shoes with no or low cut socks.

A while ago there was an e-mail list "How to Tell if you are and Oregonian" and one of them was you wear sandles with socks. This is of course only done during cooler times, socks are not worn during the summer only spring and fall when the weather may change at any moment.

Typically they are white socks either short or pushed down to the ankle worn with shorts and sweatshirt. Occasionally casual pants and sandals with socks are also worn.

Seriously, many guys do weart socks with sandals in Oregon, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it out of the Pacific NW - others just wouldn't understand!

My man wears leather sandals, and he looks fabulous in them, I'll have you know. So all you sandal wearin' guys out there, GO FOR IT!

P.S. I thought huaraches were made out of straw?

Oh and in my Fla family a favorite *stocking* stuffer at Christmastime is a pair of those socks that you wear with flipflops, with the separate big toe, sort of like mittens for feet....

Oh, in addition to mandals, all dressy flip-flops for men should be banned too... they should only be allowed in the showers, around home, or the beach if you must.

Puddy, I love your use of the word "mandals". Sort of reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where Kramer and Mr. Costanza were trying to market the "manzierre" or "bro", as I think they wound up calling it...OMG, too funny...!
