If Lancaster seems too crowded in places, consider taking a short road trip up to Lebanon County. There are still plenty of Amish and Mennonite residents there, esp around Palmyra and Annville. And far fewer tourists. Lebanon has some interesting history as well. The Hebron Moravian Cemetery has gravestones and memorial markers dating back to the French & Indian War (there are graves from our family there dating back that far, plus the Revolutionary War, Civil War, and World Wars I and II). Other interesting tidbits -- during the First World War, the Yankees were all given jobs (aka fake jobs) at Bethlehem Steel offices/operations in Lebanon to keep them from getting drafted. BS even set up its own baseball team for the players. My grandmother "assisted" Babe Ruth (not that he did much work beyond playing on the company team). https://www.theguardian.com/sport/20...ed-to-the-mill.
A bit of PA history -- a photo of my great-great grandfather with his Civil War buddies taken in Lebanon in the 1880s.

Weisser Tee— Thanks for the suggestions of other interesting places in the vicinity of Lancaster. Liked the photo; nice that you have traced family tree back a ways. I have information about my Mom’s side of the family dating to the 1600s thanks to a genealogist great-grandfather and information collected by my mother. My father’s side not so much.
