Hi MrsRogo,

How did your trip go? I have only just seen this post as I have not logged on to Fodors for some time. Hopefully you will post your report on here soon.

We have had to put our adventures on hold due to a few issues, but will start planning a new trip soon.

I still cant believe it was over 5 years ago, but it was great to see that my trip report lives on. I still read it from time to time when I need a little cheering up!

ShaneK, long time, no-see on fodors! Good to see you checking in here, even if your travels are put on hold for a while!

Hi Carol,
I miss my Fodors obsession but I find it hard to read and contribute to travel discussions when I don't have a date for our next trip. It's likely that we will do something small next year but my East Coast trip will have to wait until 2017 at the earliest.

You may be interested to know that Caleb's Kindle Fire is still getting a good work out . Thanks so much for your help with that.

I was just going to ask about that! Haha.... Glad to know it's still giving Caleb good service.

Possible trip to Oz next year (very short one, from BKK) to meet the newest member of my Sydney family friends (since 1988).

Had a very close call with a life-threatening situation, but I am doing fine now. I'm living each and every day to the fullest after that very serious scare!

Hope you can travel again soon. I truly think that having my numerous trips planned ahead is partly what keeps me (kept me) going at a very tough time.

Sorry to hear about your health. That puts my situation into perspective. I am very glad that you have fought your way through it. Travel experiences are certainly a powerful incentive to focus on!

Have a great time in Sydney. It's a fabulous city. We live about 600 miles west of there so we don't get to travel there often but certainly appreciate it when we do. We are moving a bit closer to Melbourne so if you do find time for a southern leg of your trip, please let me know and we can try for a mini GTG.

Hi Shanek,
How are you? I really wanted to let you know that I loved your report on a Californian odyssey!! I randomly found this over two years ago when doing research for our very own USA road trip!! I used lots of your ideas and I appreciate all of your tips! I am obsessed with the USA and am always planning our next adventure. We went on our holiday two years ago now and not a day goes by where I don't think of this magical trip!!
I just loved reading your hints and what happened on your journey!!
Anyway, I've been meaning to tell you that for a long time now! Thank you!!
Cheers,
Kmcstath

Hi Kmcstath,

I only just came across your post as it has been a long time since I logged into Fodors.

Thank you for your nice comments about my trip report. I'm very glad that you found it useful. It has been a great way to preserve the memmories of our amazing 5 weeks. I've actually incorporated my photos and turned it into a "coffee table" book that I thumb through frequently. It's hard to believe that it was almost 7 years ago.

We too are planning another trip but have hit a few hurdles over the last 5 years so keep putting it off. We have been limited to shorter breaks and if we do the East Coast we don't want to rush it. Perhaps next year.

Enjoy your future travels.
