Good idea about Quebec City. French is widely spoken and it has European-style architecture (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO). There are buildings, houses and churches dating from the 1600s. The Old Quebec Historic District is a walking area and has plenty of shops, European-style eateries, sidewalk cafes and parks. Towering over the old town is the Chateau Frontenac, a grand hotel dating from 1893.Fortified stone walls surround the old town. Eat rabbit at a French classic bistro. Eat yummy crepes. Grab a croissant or baguette at a French bakery. Would need passports or enhanced driver's licenses.

Is Mom aware of this trip that you are planning? If so, let her choose. My family did that for me on a milestone birthday. I chose the location and three or four things I wanted to do while there. It was a fantastic celebration!

Exactly what I've been thinking since the beginning of this thread. Ask the woman where she'd like to go!

The Biltmore in Asheville would work. Maybe stay at The Omni Grove Park Inn.

The trees should be pretty and you can eat at The Biltmore as a break from being on feet so much. The grounds are lovely.

I like a trip where you stay one place, unpack and do activities from there.

I live in Mississippi and it may not seem like this is a place on a must visit and I get that! If she loves Elvis, Graceland is always an option but, Elvis was born and raised in Mississippi. Its humbling to see where he was born vs where he rose to. Other than the birthplace of Elvis there is a lot of history here! Battlefields, Jaz, etc... There is also a wonderful Spa and cooking school less than 30 miles away. The Alluvian Hotel -The Alluvian Spa is a 7,000-square-foot luxury spa located in the heart of the Mississippi Delta. It offers a complete menu of treatments including face and body care, massage therapy, therapeutic baths, hand and foot care, and cosmetic and hair services. The spa pampers guests even further with indigenous treatments and its signature Sweet Tea services. The Alluvian Spa is dedicated to rejuvenating both body and soul, providing a premium spa visit and a relaxing Delta experience.

They also have the Viking Cooking School - From the novice to the experienced cook, thousands of students including kids, moms and dads, business professionals, and others come alone, or together with friends to attend our classes each year. If you love to cook, entertain, or just appreciate the pleasure of great food, the Viking Cooking School is the place to indulge your passions. The Viking Cooking School offers hands on or demonstration classes.

I've been, its worth checking out!
